Job Title: Equipment Training Coordinator
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
About the role
The Equipment Training Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring operational excellence and safety at the West African Container Terminal (WACT).
This position is responsible for designing, delivering, and maintaining training programs for equipment operators, ensuring they are fully equipped to handle terminal machinery efficiently and safely.
The role collaborates closely with Operations, Safety, Asset Management, and People teams to build a high-performing and safety-conscious workforce.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage training programs for all terminal equipment, including cranes, forklifts, reach stackers, and terminal tractors
Conduct training needs assessments through audits, performance reviews, and stakeholder feedback
Schedule and deliver engaging classroom and hands-on training sessions for new and existing operators
Provide specialized training for new equipment and ensure operator readiness before deployment
Implement refresher courses and safety drills to maintain high standards of compliance
Monitor operator performance and safety adherence through regular assessments
Collaborate with equipment manufacturers and suppliers for product-specific training
Maintain accurate training records, certifications, and reporting databases
Continuously improve training content and delivery based on operational feedback and performance metrics
Manage training resources and budget effectively
Promote a culture of safety and continuous learning across the terminal

Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
Lean Level 3.3 certification
Certified in Training Within Industry (WI, JI, JR, and/or JS)
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in equipment operation or training within the port industry
Strong understanding of terminal operations and equipment functionality
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
Proven ability to create training materials and deliver effective sessions
Familiarity with safety regulations and industry standards
Certification in equipment operation or safety training is an added advantage
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Collaborative mindset and ability to work across teams.
