Job Title: University Librarian
Location: Iwo, Osun
Job Summary
The University Librarian is the Academic and Professional Head of the University Library and shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day Administration and Management of the University Library and its branches; providing Library and Information Services for the entire University community.
By virtue of his/her position, the University Librarian is a Principal Officer of the University.
Requirements
Candidates must possess a good Honours Degree from a recognized University and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science or its equivalent;
Must fully understand the complexity of the University System and must be able to effectively utilize its human resources to develop a Library System that will fully support the aspirations of the University to attain world-class status;
At least fifteen (15) years of relevant post-graduation experience in University Administration or similar Institution;
Must be ICT compliant and able to move the University towards Virtual Library Applications and Platforms;
Must be a Certified Librarian with evidence of Membership of recognized Professional Bodies (e.g., Nigerian Library Association (NLA));
Possession of a Doctorate Degree will be an added advantage;
Must be between 45 and 60 years of age as of the time of assumption of duty.
General Terms and Conditions of Service
The appointments shall be for a single term of five (5) years only, on the terms and conditions as may be specified in the letters of appointments;
Bowen University runs a unique remuneration package, which is similar and favourably compares with what obtains in other Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria; and as may be approved by the Governing Council from time to time;
Fringe benefits include furnished accommodations, official vehicles and drivers and other benefits as approved by the Governing Council.
