Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Clinical Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary team at Synapse Services.
The ideal candidate will provide evidence-based psychological assessment and therapy to clients experiencing mental health and substance use challenges.
This role requires a strong commitment to client care, teamwork, and professional integrity within a therapeutic environment that promotes recovery and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Assessment and Diagnosis
Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments to evaluate clients’ mental health and substance use history.
Develop diagnostic formulations and recommendations in alignment with best clinical practices.
Deliver evidence-based individual, family, and group psychotherapy sessions.
Apply therapeutic modalities suited to client needs, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness-Based Interventions.
Support clients in developing coping strategies, relapse prevention skills, and improved emotional regulation.
Develop and implement personalized treatment plans in collaboration with psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers.
Participate in case reviews and multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate care.
Monitor client progress and adjust interventions as necessary.
Design and facilitate group sessions focusing on recovery themes such as self-awareness, emotional resilience, relapse prevention, and interpersonal skills.
Encourage participation, empathy, and mutual support among clients.
Incorporate the Twelve-Step Recovery principles and other evidence-based frameworks where appropriate.
Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, medical staff, counselors, and other professionals to ensure holistic client care.
Provide psychological input in team meetings and treatment planning discussions.
Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including assessments, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Utilize the electronic medical records (EMR) system for timely documentation.
Prepare reports and case summaries as required for internal review and compliance.
Stay updated on current research, therapeutic approaches, and developments in mental health care.
Participate in training, supervision, and continuous professional development activities.
Qualifications / Requirements
Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from an accredited institution.
2–4 years clinical experience, preferably in a mental health or substance abuse treatment setting.
Valid practice license (NACP registration desirable).
Strong knowledge of psychological assessment tools and evidence-based interventions.
Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
