The Store Keeper is responsible for receiving, verifying, recording, organizing, and issuing all materials, goods, and supplies in the store.
The role ensures accurate inventory management, proper documentation, timely reordering, and maintenance of a clean and organized storage area to support smooth business operations.
The ideal candidate must be disciplined, detail-oriented, and trustworthy, with strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.
Role Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
Receive, inspect, and store incoming materials, products, and supplies.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date stock records in both physical and electronic formats.
Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly stock counts and reconciliations.
Implement proper stock rotation (FIFO/FEFO) to reduce wastage and expired items.
Monitor stock levels and initiate reorder requests based on minimum stock thresholds.
Stock Issuance and Receiving:
Issue items to departments based on approved requisitions.
Ensure proper documentation and authorization before issuing materials.
Verify quantities, quality, and specifications of items received.
Report discrepancies, shortages, damages, or incorrect deliveries immediately.
Update stock cards, bin cards, and system records after every transaction.
Store Organization and Maintenance:
Maintain a clean, well-arranged, and secure store environment.
Label and categorize items correctly for easy identification and retrieval.
Ensure shelves, racks, and storage areas are tidy and well-maintained.
Protect stock from damage, theft, and deterioration.
Ensure proper ventilation, lighting, temperature, and safety standards in the store.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain proper records of receipts, issues, returns, and balance levels.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly stock reports for management.
Track stock movement and generate consumption analysis reports.
Keep all store documents (delivery notes, requisitions, invoices) properly filed for audit and reference.
Compliance and Controls:
Follow company procedures related to inventory control and documentation.
Ensure compliance with audit requirements and inventory management standards.
Support internal and external audits by providing accurate stock information.
Prevent unauthorized access to the store and enforce stock security procedures.
Collaboration and Support:
Work closely with the purchasing, finance, kitchen, and operational teams.
Assist in forecasting stock needs based on consumption patterns.
Provide timely updates on low-stock, out-of-stock, or surplus items.
Support cost-control and waste-reduction initiatives.
Experience / Qualification
Minimum of SSCE; OND/HND/BSc in relevant fields is an added advantage
2–4 years of experience in storekeeping, warehousing, or inventory management
Experience in hospitality, retail, supermarkets, or FMCG environments is beneficial
Knowledge of stock control systems and basic accounting principles is an advantage.
Competencies / Skills:

Ability to use inventory software, POS, and Microsoft Excel
