The Product Manager/Product Owner is responsible for defining, building, and optimizing fintech products including digital wallets, payments, POS services, lending platforms, mobile apps, APIs, agent banking tools, and merchant solutions.
The role drives product strategy, customer experience, and end-to-end execution working closely with engineering, design, operations, and business stakeholders to deliver products that meet business goals and delight users.
Key Responsibilities
Define product vision, strategy, and long-term roadmap aligned with company goals.
Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and feasibility studies.
Prioritize features using data, customer insights, and business value.
Own the product backlog and write detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and epics.
Lead sprint planning, review, and backlog grooming sessions.
Collaborate with Engineering and Design teams to ensure smooth delivery and high-quality releases.
Gather user feedback and insights from customers, merchants, agents, and partners.
Identify customer pain points and convert them into product improvements.
Conduct usability testing and ensure customer-centric design.
Work with Operations, Business Development, Compliance, Risk, and Finance teams to align product functionality with business needs.
Manage communication, expectations, and updates across stakeholders.
Prepare product documentation, release notes, and internal training materials.
Monitor product adoption, usage, retention, and transaction metrics.
Analyze data to identify issues, blockers, and improvement opportunities.
Drive continuous optimization of features, UI/UX, and performance.
Ensure product features meet regulatory standards from CBN, NDPR, PCI-DSS, AML/KYC, and other fintech-specific compliance guidelines.
Work with Compliance and Legal teams during product approvals and audits.
Coordinate with external partners such as banks, switches, payment processors, aggregators, and vendors.
Manage API integrations, certifications, and interoperability requirements.
Support business development in partner-facing product presentations.
Plan and execute product launches and feature rollouts.
Coordinate with Marketing, Sales, and Support teams for successful adoption.
Track post-launch performance and iterate accordingly.
Qualifications & Requirements
B.Sc. / HND in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Economics, or related fields.
7–10 years’ experience in product management in fintech, banking, technology, or payments.
Strong understanding of digital payments, wallets, agency banking, APIs, POS systems, or digital lending.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Ability to write clear user stories, wireframes, and product documentation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Proficiency in tools such as JIRA, Trello, Figma, Miro, or product analytics tools.
