Job Description
The Commercial Lead will oversee marketing operations in Nigeria and spearhead growth and expansion initiatives in alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.
This role demands a thorough understanding of Nigeria’s pharmaceutical landscape, with demonstrable experience and established networks across all regions.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a solid background in pharmaceutical sales and marketing, capable of developing and executing scalable business development strategies. A proven track record of driving commercial success and fostering strong relationships with key industry stakeholders is essential.
Responsibilities
Leadership: Lead, develop, inspire and motivate a cross-functional team within the organization to achieve growth targets. Emphasize high performance and employee engagement for an aligned, cohesive, and adaptable team. Instill the company's values to foster a stimulating working environment. Carry our supervision and appraisal of team members.
Business Growth: Drive growth for a portfolio of active and assigned prospective customers within the Country. Collaborate closely with the sales team to ensure business expansion.
Account and Distributor Management: Manage major cross-region customer accounts for profitable growth, including identifying opportunities, business development, and negotiation. Broaden the stakeholder network to drive positive customer experiences along the Buying Cycle. Develop and execute specialty sales plans in line with the company's business strategy and pharmaceutical product portfolio.
Sales Activities: Oversee the contract process to ensure value delivery to customers with competitive pricing. Innovate new ideas, concepts, and products in collaboration with Technical Service and Marketing teams. Oversee key sales and supply chain activities, including forecasting, inventory management, accounts receivable, and project management.
Marketing Activities: Designing marketing strategy, plans and budgets. Design marketing materials & content that will be suitable for various marketing programs/activities. Undertake market research to understand marketing trends and customer preferences. Design presentation materials for various marketing campaigns.
Stakeholder Management: Cultivate effective relationships across relevant functions. Coordinate internal support, including technical service, customer service, and marketing, to deliver high-level support and expedite service delivery.
Reporting: Prepare and present regular commercial and marketing reports to the Managing Director/CEO, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and recommendations for future actions.
Mandatory Requirements
Substantial commercial/sales & Marketing experience in the pharmaceutical distribution industry
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Pharmacy or related discipline
Business and Commercial acumen
Successful experience leading, developing, and motivating teams
Fluent in English (written and spoken)
Excellent Team Player
Good understanding of Nigeria pharmaceutical industry space and terminologies
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills
Willingness to travel regularly throughout the region.
Desirable Requirements:
Masters on Business Administration
