Job Title: Contractor’s Quantity Surveyor

Location: Yaba, Lagos

Role Overview

• We are seeking a Contractor’s Quantity Surveyor who thrives in the fast, technical world of site construction — someone hands-on enough to deal with artisans and suppliers, yet professional enough to interface with consultants and management on cost, progress, and planning.
• The Contractor’s Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial and contractual management of projects under construction.
• You will ensure that all material and labor costs are tracked accurately, variations are properly documented, and valuations are submitted on time.
• This role demands strong communication, negotiation, and coordination skills.
• You’ll be the link between site operations, procurement, and project management — ensuring the company’s financial interests are protected while maintaining smooth collaboration with other professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and update Bills of Quantities (BoQs) for ongoing and upcoming projects.
• Conduct regular material and labor cost monitoring to prevent budget overruns.
• Evaluate and certify subcontractor and artisan work done on-site.
• Prepare interim valuations, variation claims, and final accounts for client and internal reporting.
• Support procurement by providing accurate quantity take-offs and assisting in vendor negotiations.
• Track site progress and ensure financial documentation aligns with physical work executed.
• Participate in site meetings and coordinate with engineers, architects, and other team members to ensure alignment on scope, progress, and quality.
• Maintain proper documentation for all cost and contractual communications.
• Provide weekly reports on site progress, valuation status, and financial projections.
• Work closely with the finance and operations teams to support project cash flow management.
• Advise management on potential cost risks, claims, and mitigation strategies.

Qualifications & Requirements

• HND or B.Sc Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• 2+ years experience working in a contractor environment (preferably in building construction).
• Strong knowledge of construction measurement, procurement processes, and contract administration.
• Proven ability to coordinate effectively with artisans, engineers, and project supervisors.
• Solid understanding of cost control principles and project documentation standards.
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills with attention to accuracy and detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, and Quantity Surveying software (e.g., CostX, QS CAD, or equivalent).
• Clear communication skills — written, verbal, and numerical.
• A practical, results-driven mindset — capable of making sound commercial decisions under pressure.
