The Health Strategy and Delivery Foundation (HSDF) is a not-for-profit firm established in December 2013 to improve the quality of decision-making and execution in the health and social sectors. HSDF supports key stakeholders at all levels of government and the private sector to achieve measurable and sustainable impact.
HSDF focuses on evidence, rigor, continuous improvement, and results at scale, through substantive engagements that cover conceptual design, long-term strategy, and implementation. By doing so, HSDF seeks to address complex and fundamental health system challenges and ultimately impact the transformation of the health and social sectors in Nigeria and Africa. We focus on improving existing processes and where necessary, deviate from the status quo to introduce transformative and sustainable processes and ideas.
The Senior Analyst will be exposed to different roles and workstreams within the organization.
S/he will support all program activities and deliverables.
This role will be responsible for analyzing primary and secondary data/information, preparing and presenting reports and providing technical support to various programmatic activities.
Responsibilities
Stakeholder Management:
Develops relationships with stakeholders and understands their different expectations; interfaces in conjunction with other team/HSDF members with external stakeholders.
Participates in providing ongoing thought partnership, knowledge transfer, and guidance to partners.
Represents the organization in specific technical areas and builds partnerships and networks in the country.
Contribute to the development of articles and papers for peer-reviewed journals
Data Analytics:
Applies fundamentals of data systems (indicators, collection, collation, analysis, synthesis and report generation, dissemination, feedback, corrective action, data management and storage).
Conducts desk reviews and executes analytical scenarios, draws insights, and transforms raw data into useful information with sound assumptions.
Project/Program Execution:
Keeps up with program-specific trends and emerging practices and shares valuable insights with team members.
Executes tasks and end-to-end processes in an accurate, structured, well-formatted output and effectively communicates content in set timelines.
Provides technical support for the attainment of program/project goals and objectives.
Liaises with team members to ensure quality implementation.
Supports the development and execution of innovative ideas and approaches to strengthen the capacity of public sector entities.
Supports the identification of barriers or gaps in program implementation and proffers solutions to address them.
Supports the team in managing reporting cycles and assists in the process of quantifying program outputs and evaluating progress towards program goals.
Prepares first drafts of project analytics, presentations and reports and presents them with minimal errors.
Presents oral and written reports on projects or assigned tasks.
Research and Writing:
Contribute to the conceptualization and conduct of research in the public health domain.
Draft conference abstracts, articles, posters, manuscripts, etc.
Supports individuals and teams undertaking knowledge synthesis projects.
Supporting other teams in understanding the health financing and health systems landscape.
Undertake other reasonable duties related to the job purpose as required.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
3+ years of health-related work experience and experience in program planning, analysis and presentation of statistical data.
A Graduate/Master's degree in a relevant field (Public Health, Social Sciences, Computer Science, Data Science) or other closely related fields.
Ability to perform complex analytical studies and interpret the results.
Strong ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely (verbally and in writing) for a wide range of audiences (technical and non-technical) with differing needs.
Strong quantitative/ analytical skills, e.g., Microsoft Excel and other statistical packages.
Advanced report writing skills.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
Collaborative work style, strong work ethic and good stakeholder management skills.
Possesses the ability to think strategically and rapidly analyze, interpret and integrate data information from varied sources into clear conclusions and recommendations.
Must be able to take initiative where appropriate, proffer solutions to bottlenecks and challenges
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) and strong organizational skills.
