Jireh Doo Foundation (JDF) in 22 years has consistently responded to both developmental and Humanitarian needs across local communities in Nigeria. JDF works in 5 thematic areas of Gender and Humanitarian response, HIV and Health, Child Development, Research and Information, Single parents, and covers four states of Borno, Gombe, Nasarawa and Benue.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Hygiene Promotion Officer
Location: Konduga (Musakalari and Kaleri Communities), Borno
Employment Type: Full-time
Position Summary
The Hygiene Promotion Officer is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring JDF hygiene behaviour change interventions to reduce WASH-related diseases.
S/he promotes safe hygiene practices through participatory and culturally appropriate approaches.
Design, plan and conduct assessments in JDF targeted locations of implementation and other locations of interest on public health risks.
Plan and design public health promotion activities using different approaches to mitigate against risks as per result of assessment.
Conduct hygiene promotion sessions at community and institutional (Schools and health facilities) levels.
Promote key hygiene behaviours: handwashing, safe water handling, menstrual hygiene, and latrine use.
Lead and Support emergency response to outbreak of cholera and other infectious diseases using Case Area Target Intervention (CATI) and other Rapid Response Mechanisms.
Community Engagement and Mobilization:
Work with community mobilization officer, community leaders, women’s groups, and youth for collective hygiene improvement.
Design, develop and disseminate age-sensitive and culturally appropriate Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials.
Support training and supervision of community hygiene promoters and volunteers.
Monitoring, and Evaluation:
Monitor adoption of hygiene practices and collect feedback.
Conduct KAP surveys and contribute to periodic reports.
Document lessons learned and success stories.
Collect analyse and document health data in collaboration with health facilities where existence in implementing locations.
Coordination:
Work closely with WASH hardware, health/Nutrition, and protection teams to ensure integrated programming.
Represent the organization in hygiene-related coordination and or external forums.
Compliance and Reporting:
Provide weekly/monthly update on project progress and flag any concerns in a timely manner
Prepare periodic reports on the implementation of project activities as per JDF requirements
Act as the team lead, coordinates the activities and the team at the field level and report same to the Unit Lead.
Support proposal development.
Carry out any other activity that supports the actualization of the organizations vision and mission.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or HND in Public Health, Sociology, Community Development, or related field.
At least 3 years of experience in hygiene promotion or community health.
Knowledge of participatory hygiene and sanitation transformation methods.
Experience in humanitarian or development WASH settings.

Work Conditions:
Frequent travel to IDP sites and Host communities
Direct engagement with local populations and field partners.
Knowledge, skills and Abilities
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Advanced computer skills, including the ability to type quickly and to use Microsoft Office products, email, and the internet.
Ability to maintain confidentiality for sensitive issues or projects and use judgement to execute duties and responsibilities.
Sensitive to cultural differences and an understanding of the political and ethical issues surrounding HIV infections subcontractors, and recipients of assistance.
Fluency in English and Hausa (written & spoken).
Knowledge of health programs.
