We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Accountant
Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
Responsibilities
Capture transactions relating to Payables / Fixed Assets/ Intercompany/ Cash and Bank in D365 system.
Validate transaction documentation, follow up on queries or outstanding items by liaising with in-country Finance representatives and / or Vendors.
Escalate complex issues to relevant finance team members according to escalation process.
Respond appropriately to finance inquiries via ticketing system, email, or chat.
Review employee expense and travel claims.
Uphold internal finance policies and ensure compliance.
Assist with Financial Transformation initiatives as required by the group, including the establishment of a SCC / Administration center.
Ensure timely, complete, and accurate recording of all financial transactions in line with national accounting standards, IFRS and group management policies and procedures and manage the month-end closing process as per the group finance policies and procedures.
Ultimate owner of the local financial information (GL and Trial balance).
Ensure that the finance team performs and delivers in a timely manner and in line with the group company policies, procedures, and practices.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual statutory and management financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and other reports in line with the group management policies and procedures and as required by the global finance management.
Prepare and process Bi-weekly payroll for 600 employees using Paycom.
Manage the finance and accounting systems and be the ultimate responsible person for local IFRS/GAAP and tax compliance in the respective jurisdiction (incl. localization and/or development of the finance systems).
Collaborate closely with the global finance team and serve as their local representative to oversee and ensure compliance of all business functions and local management with the group finance and business controlling requirements.
Be a trusted business partner to the local Country Manager and provide monthly updates of the financial position of the entity.
Assist with Financial Transformation initiatives as required by the Group, including the establishment and management of a Shared Services / Administration Centre serving other parts of the Group.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3–5 years of experience in finance, accounting, or business support services.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications; experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is an advantage.
Demonstrated experience in accounting, reporting, and financial analysis.
Relevant finance or accounting qualifications are preferred.
Fluency in English (both written and verbal).
Detail-focused and organized.
Excellent problem analysis and solving skills.
Ability to spot trends and insights from data.
Must have completed the compulsory 1-year NYSC or have an exemption certificate.
A valid and up to date National Identity Card/NIMC slip is required upon commencement of this role.
