We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Driver (Talent Pool)
Location: Abuja Contract-208 working hours per month
Level: 03
Main Purpose
To maintain a pool of qualified and talented candidates for this position who may be employed as needed.
The role involves transporting authorized goods and passengers in compliance with MSFsecurity regulations and national traffic laws, ensuring vehiclesafety, reliability, and efficient service delivery.
Job Description
Checking daily, the technical conditions of the assigned vehicle (state of the tires, oil, fuel, brakes, radio equipment, spareparts, etc.), performing weekly check according to the MSF Logbook, refilling it when necessary, and keeping it clean to ensure it can be driven in perfect conditions.
Carrying out a hand over if another uses the vehicle
Ensuring the security of passengers in the vehicle, driving carefully, observing speed limits andtraffic rules in the country as well as MSF security rules, in order to avoid car accidents.
Ensuring all passengers have all necessary papers in order before travelling, and ensuring non-MSF staff sign disclaimers of responsibility before using the vehicle
Ensuring correct loading and unloading of the vehicle, submitting the documents to the receiver ofthe goods, checking the status of delivered goods, returning the duly completed documents to
Logistics and ensuring that the goods have the necessary documents
Ensuring that all vehicle documents and the driver's driving license are valid and in the vehicle.
Informing the line manager of any incident involving the transportation of passengers and/or goods.
Knowing how to use all types of radios, codes, call numbers and radio alphabets by heart andcommunicating with base according to MSF communications policy to inform the driver's position and any potential implications.
Knowing and respecting the security rules related to vehicle movements, specifically those related to customs, checkpoints and roadblocks.
Comply with local security rules andensureall passengers know and respect the security rules
Communicate very clearly and report the departure and arrival on time and consider it as securityprocedure.
Not allow anynon-MSFto be in the car unlesspermittedby the line manager and fill the discharge of liability form. No non-MSF items allowed to be in the car.
To attend thebriefingbefore any movement and thedebriefingafter coming back from movement and tells his observation during the trip.
Ensure MSF identification is visible in the carandstaffused in the field movement
Ensure the communication tools in the car are functioning before any movement.
Ensure the car movement sheet is signed by staff/passenger who used the car.
Follow thedrivers’rosters and be earlier in theworkplacetocheck the car, equipment, the first aidkit availability and ensure all is ok for the movement.
Report to the mechanic or the line managerforanyabnormalissue with the car before movement.
Ensure the availability ofsecurity water and food in the car duringfieldmovement.
Followtheregularservice A,B,C for the vehicleand informin advancefor themechanic or the line manager for planning the service time.
Requirements Education
Secondary education, Validdriving license
Good knowledge of local roads inAbuja.
Experience
Essential 2 years minimum of previous driving experience
Desirable experience with specific vehicles that is 4x4 Landcruiser
Desirable Experience with MSF or other INGOs
LanguageEnglish and Hausa, Spoken and Written.
