The Electrician is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, lighting, and power distribution within the facility.
The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all electrical equipment and supports preventive and corrective maintenance activities across all units.
The ideal candidate must be technically skilled, safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and experienced in troubleshooting electrical faults in a commercial or industrial environment.
Role Responsibilities
Electrical Installation:
Install wiring systems, lighting fixtures, sockets, switches, and electrical panels.
Install and connect circuit breakers, distribution boards, and protective devices.
Support installation of machinery, appliances, HVAC systems, and other equipment requiring electrical connection.
Ensure all electrical installations follow national electrical codes and safety standards.
Maintenance & Repairs:
Perform routine electrical maintenance and inspections across the facility.
Troubleshoot and repair faulty wiring, circuits, switches, and electrical components.
Fix lighting issues, replace bulbs, ballasts, contactors, and defective components.
Repair or replace damaged electrical panels, breakers, and fuses.
Support maintenance of generators, ATS panels, and power distribution units.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:
Diagnose electrical faults using testing tools such as multimeters, testers, and insulation meters.
Identify root causes of electrical issues and provide effective solutions.
Respond promptly to emergencies, outages, and urgent repair requests.
Ensure minimal downtime of electrical systems.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow all electrical safety protocols, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and fire safety regulations.
Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant statutory and safety standards.
Use proper PPE and enforce safe working conditions.
Report hazardous conditions, exposed wiring, or unsafe equipment immediately.
Power & Energy Management:
Monitor electrical loads and ensure proper distribution across circuits.
Assist in optimizing energy usage by identifying energy-saving opportunities.
Support testing of backup power systems and ensure readiness during outages.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate logs of electrical repairs, maintenance activities, and inspections.
Document usage of materials, parts replaced, and faults detected.
Report electrical performance trends, breakdown causes, and improvement recommendations.
Assist with preparing maintenance schedules.
Tools, Materials & Inventory Management:
Properly handle electrical tools, testers, ladders, and safety equipment.
Keep track of electrical spares, fittings, and consumables.
Report shortages or damaged tools and request replacements.
Ensure workshop and electrical panels are neat, organized, and secure.
Team Collaboration:
Work with generator technicians, HVAC technicians, plumbers, and other facility staff.
Assist other technical teams during facility installations or maintenance tasks.
Provide electrical support during events, projects, or emergencies.
Participate in technical training sessions and improvement initiatives.
Experience / Qualification
Minimum of SSCE; Technical Certificate, Trade Test (I, II, III), or Diploma in Electrical Installation or Electrical Engineering
3–5 years of hands-on experience as an Electrician in commercial, industrial, hospitality, or retail environments
Knowledge of national electrical codes and safety standards
Experience working with generators, ATS systems, and building electrical infrastructure is an advantage
Certification in electrical installations or safety training is an added advantage
Competencies/Skills:
Strong knowledge of electrical installation and maintenance
Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical schematics
Proficient in using electrical tools and diagnostic equipment
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Good understanding of power systems, generators, and ATS panels
Excellent attention to detail
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work at heights and in confined environments
