The AC Technician (HVAC) is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and servicing all types of air conditioning and ventilation systems. The role ensures efficient operation of split units, central cooling systems, VRF units, ducting systems, chillers, and refrigeration equipment, while maintaining energy efficiency, safety, and minimal downtime.
The ideal candidate must be hands-on, technically skilled, safety-conscious, and capable of diagnosing faults quickly in a fast-paced facility environment.
Role Responsibilities
Installation of HVAC Systems:
Install air conditioning units including split, window, VRF, duct ACs, and package units.
Install and repair ductwork, vents, thermostats, and related HVAC components.
Ensure installations meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
Assist with upgrading HVAC systems during facility renovations.
Maintenance & Servicing:
Perform routine preventive maintenance on all HVAC systems.
Clean coils, filters, blowers, and ventilation components to maintain efficiency.
Check refrigerant levels and recharge when necessary.
Calibrate thermostats and ensure correct temperature regulation.
Lubricate motors, belts, and moving parts for smooth operation.
Troubleshooting & Repairs:
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in AC and refrigeration systems.
Repair compressors, condensers, evaporators, motors, and control boards.
Respond promptly to work orders and emergency repair requests.
Replace faulty parts and recommend system upgrades if required.
Provide accurate assessments of repair costs and material requirements.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols during installation, servicing, and repairs.
Handle refrigerants responsibly and in compliance with environmental regulations.
Ensure all HVAC operations comply with industry standards and company policies.
Report hazardous conditions or faulty equipment immediately.
Maintain adherence to HSE procedures at all times.
Equipment & Inventory Management:
Maintain proper records of tools, spare parts, and consumables.
Report stock shortages and request required materials on time.
Ensure proper storage and safe handling of HVAC tools and equipment.
Keep all equipment clean, organized, and in good working condition.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate maintenance logs and service reports.
Document repairs, replacements, and inspection results.
Update facility managers on system performance and breakdown trends.
Record refrigerant usage and parts replaced for audit purposes.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with electrical, plumbing, and facility teams for coordinated repairs.
Support facility operations by ensuring minimal downtime of HVAC systems
Collaborate with external contractors during large project installations or servicing.
Participate in team meetings and provide recommendations for system improvements.
Experience / Qualification
Minimum of SSCE; technical certification or Trade Test in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning or HVAC Engineering is required
3–5 years of hands-on experience in AC/HVAC installation and maintenance
Experience with VRF/VRV systems, commercial chillers, and industrial cooling units is an advantage
Background in hospitality, commercial buildings, retail, or industrial operations is preferred
Knowledge of environmental and refrigerant handling regulations is beneficial
Competencies / Skills:
Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems
Skilled in electrical diagnostics, refrigeration cycles, and mechanical repairs
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Good communication and teamwork abilities
Basic computer literacy for reporting and documentation
Ability to work at heights, in tight spaces, and in varying conditions
