Street Child began its work in Sierra Leone in 2008 working with a small number of street children, eight years later we have helped to transform the lives of more than 50,000 children across Sierra Leone, Liberia and Nepal. In 2017, we launched our first project in Nigeria helping children impacted by conflict in the North East to access education.

About the Job
The Senior Protection Officer leads the implementation of child protection and gender based violence (GBV) interventions for conflict-affected children, girls, and women in Northeast Nigeria.
The role supports the Protection Unit to ensure quality service delivery, continuous improvement, and timely response to protection concerns.
The officer oversees Street Child’s Child Help Desks across all project locations and provides direct support to individuals at risk or survivors of GBV.
Regular travel to field sites is required, and during major humanitarian emergencies, flexibility in working hours and responsibilities will be expected.
Key Responsibilities
Support to CP/GBV programming activities across project.
Provide support, in the CP/GBV Programming which include:
Ensuring assistance is provided to children affected by the conflict in a dignified, respectful, equitable and inclusive manner that supports their resilience
Ensure the provision of holistic case management to the target population
The mainstreaming of inter-agency guidelines (e.g. IASC alternative care placement guidelines) and standards (e.g. CPMS) across the different sectors of programme activities delivered by SC and its partners
Ensure the training needs and capacity building for case workers and protection officers are addressed timely
Identify available service providers for referral of children in need of other services
Ensure compliance with donor rules and regulations during implementation.
Collaborate with the M&E Officer, CRM Officer, and CPIMS Officer in ensuring adequate data capturing of project beneficiaries.
He / She shall also undertake any other role or responsibility assigned by the CP program manager.
Proposed Outputs:
Provide technical support to case workers and supervisors on case management and good documentation.
Support the caseworkers on correct documentation
Provide support on delivery of life skill, PSS and positive parenting
Provide technical support to caseworkers on the usage of the CPIMS+ primero
Be available on call/skype if any urgent matters arise that a staff would like to share regarding their casework or his/her personal well being
Monthly progress reports to the CP manager to highlight needs and gaps.
Effective representation of CP , GBV, and DWG field-level coordination activities and meetings.
Reporting:
Keep the Child Protection Programme Manager informed on the activities of the project by providing relevant correspondence, reports and meeting minutes as well as making regular updates.
Responsible for prompt submission of all reports to the Child Protection Program Manager.
Work closely with implementing partners to prepare and submit reports on approved frequency to the Programme Manager.
Supervise the partners’ protection officer/caseworkers to ensure regular follow up on case management.
Identify gaps in service provision to children with special attention to UASC, GBV, and CAAFAG, including support for persons with disability, and proactively refer and advocate for those gaps to relevant stakeholders in coordination with the CP Manager.
Key Relationships:
Street Child and local partners/other agencies/local government/local communities/displaced community, as regards to Street Child’s Child Protection programme in conjunction with the Program Manager.
Street Child at the stakeholders meeting as necessary e.g. CMTF, GBV and DWG meetings
National partner organizations, Community members and other key stakeholders in project locations.

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, Development Studies, or a related field.
A qualified social worker; or a professional with equivalent proven experience.
Experience working in the Humanitarian context. Minimum of 3 years’ proven experience in child protection, case management, or reintegration programming, preferably within national or international humanitarian/development NGOs.
Strong skills in community engagement, psychosocial support, and working in conflict or post-conflict contexts.
Innovative, solutions-oriented, and equipped with sound analytical, conceptual, and strategic thinking abilities.
Demonstrated commitment to humanitarian principles, child safeguarding, and reintegration of vulnerable groups including Children Associated with Armed Groups (CAAFAG). values
