Role Summary
The Business Development Officer will be responsible for driving revenue growth, acquiring new customers, developing strategic relationships, and positioning Export Express as a preferred freight forwarding and logistics partner.
The role requires a self-motivated, results-driven professional with strong experience in the Nigerian logistics and freight forwarding sector, plus hands-on digital marketing capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales:
Identify, prospect, and acquire new clients across import, export, customs clearing, and logistics services.
Develop a strong sales pipeline through cold outreach, referrals, online channels, and industry networking.
Prepare and deliver proposals, quotes, and presentations to prospective clients.
Negotiate deals and close transactions in line with company pricing strategy.
Maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, agents, and partners.
Achieve monthly and quarterly revenue targets.
Digital Marketing & Lead Generation:
Manage online lead generation through social media (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook).
Run targeted digital ads and campaigns to attract freight forwarding clients.
Create marketing content: blogs, social posts, ads, customer case studies.
Track campaign performance and optimize cost per lead (CPL).
Maintain the company’s online presence and ensure consistent branding.
Market Research & Strategy:
Analyze industry trends, competitor activities, and pricing strategies.
Identify new business opportunities in freight forwarding, logistics, warehousing, and cargo consolidation.
Provide weekly sales reports, pipeline updates, and market intelligence to management.
Client Relationship Management:
Ensure high-quality onboarding of new clients.
Follow up consistently with clients to ensure repeat business.
Maintain CRM records and ensure all interactions are documented.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Minimum of 3 years experience in Business Development, Sales, or Marketing within Freight Forwarding, Customs Brokerage, Logistics, or Supply Chain.
B.Sc or HND in Marketing from a recognized institution (MANDATORY).
Strong understanding of freight operations, clearing process, billing structure, and logistics pricing.
Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
Demonstrated experience in digital marketing, online lead generation, and basic content creation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Competencies & Skills:
Strong negotiation and deal-closing skills.
Proactive, self-driven, and highly results-oriented.
Good understanding of customer needs and relationship management.
Strong digital marketing skills (social media, paid ads, content creation).
Ability to generate and convert leads consistently.
Excellent time-management and organizational abilities.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: N100,000 - N120,000 / Month.
Commission: Performance-based, tied to revenue generated and profitability.
Transport and communication allowance.
HMO (optional depending on company policy).
