Job Title: Markets Business Manager - Nigeria, West and Central Africa
Given the increasing industry and regulatory focus around control-related tasks, this role is critical to maintaining a robust control environment across multiple desks and businesses within the Markets organisation.
The role is key to enabling business growth through maintaining a sound control environment, facilitating new business initiatives, product expansion and driving technology change within the business
The role will cover all asset classes within the markets organisation. The job holder should be able to work well in a team environment within the country/business as well as manage matrix reporting lines and should be able to function without close supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Provide updates related to financial performance , opportunities, risk and control issues, escalation points, and regulatory engagement.
Support the business in facilitating new business initiatives, product expansion and driving technology change.
Create and provide effective metrics to stakeholders and management teams across various risk stripes.
Advance control framework including executing Manager’s Control Assessment testing, operational loss processes, and corrective actions.
Build strong relationship with country product, business and function partners and coordinate effectively across the Markets team.
Liaison with desk heads, support functions building relationships with control and support functions to develop and deliver on business strategy.
Seek out and ensure corrective actions are implemented for control related issues across the spectrum of control functions with a goal of driving a robust, harmonized business model for the country.
Have a critical mind and question processes and frameworks with an objective of risk reduction.
Preparation of meeting materials, ensuring minutes are accurately recorded and tracking follow-up items.
Relay business knowledge, product knowledge, and requirements to business and internal support functions where required.
Communicate (written and oral) information within and between the businesses and support functions.
Build effective prioritization skills as the job entails dealing with multiple conflicting priorities in a time- pressured environment.
Other ad hoc administration tasks that support the activities of the business including strategy presentation.
Business support for Internal and external/ regulatory exams/audits.
Requirements
A minimum of First Degree or its equivalent plus a relevant higher Degree or professional qualification.
A minimum of 15 years post-graduation experience out of which at least 10 years must have been in the banking industry and at least 3 years on senior manager grade.
Relevant experience in financial markets either in the business or business support functions
Exposure to financial markets related products and experience would be an advantage.
Understanding of the broader financial markets regulatory landscape
Evidence of experience in at least 3 major areas of banking operations
