Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and direct supervision of the Head of Programme Coordination and Innovation (PCI), and in close coordination with the Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) Unit, the incumbent will support and strengthen IOM Nigeria’s private sector engagement portfolio.
This includes strategic outreach to private sector actors, development of partnerships, resource mobilization, programme development, corporate liaison, due diligence, and strengthening IOM’s relationship with private sector stakeholders at national, regional, and continental levels.
The incumbent will contribute to advancing IOM Nigeria’s Private Sector Strategy, mobilizing innovative partnerships, supporting advocacy efforts, and ensuring alignment with the Nigeria UNSDCF, IOM Global Strategy and internal compliance processes.
Responsibilities
Private Sector Engagement:
Support the implementation of IOM Nigeria’s Private Sector Engagement Strategy through targeted outreach, stewardship, and engagement with companies, foundations, chambers, and corporate networks.
Conduct mapping and maintain an updated database of private sector stakeholders to identify partnership, visibility, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and fundraising opportunities.
Support engagement with a broad spectrum of actors, including diaspora networks, government ministries, private sector entities, civil society organizations, and International Financial institutions (IFIs) within and beyond Nigeria.
Liaise with regional private sector focal points in Dakar and collaborate with HQ PSP to align engagements and leverage global opportunities.
Identify private sector institutions relevant to priority thematic areas (climate action, youth employment, regular pathways, etc.) and facilitate targeted collaboration.
Support relationship-building with IFIs to explore potential funding, partnerships, and programmatic opportunities aligned with IOM’s strategic objectives.
Programme & Paternship Development:
Identify and develop new private sector and IFI programme opportunities, including preliminary research, drafting partner profiles, and producing guidance notes.
Assist in designing approaches to expand IOM Nigeria’s private sector and IFI portfolio.
Support programme units in developing strategic partnerships and networking opportunities with donors, IFIs, and partners, including international financing institutions.
Develop value propositions for private sector partners and match their CSR priorities with IOM programmes.
Support the design of scalable partnership models, modalities, and mechanisms in coordination with PCI.
Contribute to the development of innovative initiatives aimed at strengthening private sector participation in migration governance.
Knowledge Management, Communication & Reporting:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of private sector, diaspora, and IFI engagement activities, donor communications, and programme files in relevant IOM software applications.
Draft visibility, resource mobilization, and partnership engagement materials as required, including reporting on diaspora and IFI contributions.
Prepare reports, briefing notes, outreach packages, presentations, and corporate communication products as required.
Document best practices, collect lessons learned, and contribute to knowledge-sharing within PCI and PSP.
Compliance, Due Diligence & Coordination:
Ensure due diligence, legal vetting, and contractual processes are followed for all private sector partnerships.
Coordinate closely with PGLS, LEG, Finance, and relevant units on risk management, compliance, and contractual agreements.
Support adherence to IOM’s private sector partnership policies, including risk assessment, ethical screening, and internal controls.
Ensure alignment of private sector engagement with IOM Nigeria’s resource mobilization objectives and the Nigeria UNSDCF.
Coordination & Representation:
Represent IOM Nigeria at meetings, corporate forums, CSR events, stakeholder engagements, and private sector platforms.
Coordinate with federal and state government actors, private associations, and development partners on private sector initiatives.
Support regional private sector engagement efforts in West Africa in close collaboration with the Regional Office.
Other Duties:
Support monitoring of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to private sector partnerships, outreach, and resource mobilization.
Perform any other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Master’s Degree in international relations, International Development, Political or Social Sciences, Migration Studies, Law, or related field with 4-5 years relevant professional experience; or
University degree in the above fields with 5-7 years relevant professional experience
Experience:
Experience in private sector engagement, CSR initiatives, partnership development, or corporate fundraising.
Experience providing technical guidance on private sector engagement within development or humanitarian sectors.
Experience in mapping corporate actors, conducting outreach, facilitating partnerships, and donor relations.
Experience in programme development, proposal writing, or resource mobilization is an asset.
Skills:
Strong communication, writing and organizational skills; ability to prepare clear and concise reports;
Basic knowledge of monitoring and evaluation concepts, approaches and methodologies;
Confirmed experience in donor report writing in humanitarian and/or development settings;
Experience with Results Based Management approach and other strategic planning approaches;
Strong analytical and planning skills; capacity to establish working relationships with governmental authorities, national and international institutions and Non-Governmental Organizations;
Capacity to supervise and train support staff; ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional background;

Good level of computer literacy, including database applications.
Languages:
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
