The Farm Supervisor will work closely with and report to the Farm Manager to ensure smooth daily running of field operations across the 185-hectare maize and cassava farm in Oyo State.
This is a hands-on, supervisory role that focuses on organizing farm labor, monitoring crop activities, and ensuring tasks are completed on time and to standard. The supervisor will also deputize for the Farm Manager when needed and must be ready to work actively on the field alongside the team.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations:
Supervise and participate in daily farm activities such as land preparation, planting, weeding, fertilizer application, spraying, and harvesting.
Ensure that all tasks are carried out properly, safely, and according to instructions from the Farm Manager.
Monitor crop health regularly and report any pest, disease, or soil problems immediately.
Support the implementation of good agronomic practices for maize and cassava.
Record daily field activities and labor attendance.
Labor Supervision:
Assign and monitor work for farm workers and casual laborers.
Maintain discipline, punctuality, and productivity among workers.
Encourage teamwork and a safe, respectful work environment.
Assist in training workers on correct use of tools, machinery, and safety procedures.
Machinery and Equipment
Ensure proper use and cleaning of farm machinery, tools, and equipment after daily operations.
Report faults or maintenance needs promptly to the Farm Manager or mechanic.
Keep simple logs of machinery use (fuel, hours, operators).
Reporting and Record-Keeping:
Maintain daily records of tasks completed, inputs used, and manpower deployed.
Submit short daily and weekly activity updates to the Farm Manager.
Safety and Farm Upkeep:
Enforce farm safety rules and use of protective gear.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of work areas, stores, and staff quarters.
Report any safety or security issues immediately.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Timeliness and quality of field tasks.
Labor attendance and productivity.
Crop performance and field hygiene.
Proper use and maintenance of tools and machinery.
Accuracy of daily records and reports.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Requirements:
National Diploma (OND or HND) or equivalent in Agriculture, Crop Production, or related field.
At least 2–3 years of hands-on experience working on a commercial or mechanized farm (preferably maize and cassava).
Experience supervising small teams of farm laborers.
Basic understanding of crop production cycles and farm machinery operation.
Willingness to live and work on-site full-time.
Desirable Skills and Attributes:
Practical, hardworking, and trustworthy.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Good record-keeping ability (manual or simple Excel sheets).
Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
Physically fit and ready to work long hours during busy seasons.
Working Conditions:
Based full-time on the 185-hectare farm in Oyo State.
Required to stay on the farm Monday to Saturday every week.
Accommodation provided on-site, with additional quarters available at the Garri Factory in Ijaiye Orile.
Long hours may be required during planting and harvest seasons.
Remuneration
Salary: N100,000 - N120,000 / month.
A competitive salary will be offered, based on qualifications and experience, with opportunities for performance-based bonuses.
