CASFOD is a non-governmental organization founded in 2019 with a focus on advocating for and protecting the rights of women and children affected by conflict and emergencies. CASFOD is dedicated to providing support and empowerment to vulnerable populations and ensuring that they receive the assistance they need to rebuild their lives.
Our interventions are guided by the Humanitarian Development Peace (HDP) nexus where we seek to address urgent humanitarian needs and promoting sustainable development and peace.
Sokoto State, particularly Illela, Kebbe, and Gudu LGAs, is facing a severe humanitarian crisis driven by armed banditry, widespread displacement, food insecurity (including acute malnutrition), and climate-related shocks such as flooding. These crises have resulted in loss of lives, destruction of livelihoods, and an increasing number of internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Recent humanitarian assessments indicate that approximately 5.18 million people in Northwest Nigeria require multisectoral humanitarian assistance, with over 75% being women, children, and other vulnerable groups. As of early 2025, more than 51,000 IDPs were recorded in Sokoto State due to conflict and flooding, underscoring the urgent need for coordinated humanitarian response.
CASFOD is implementing life-saving interventions in WASH, nutrition, and education to improve access to clean water, promote hygiene, support learning opportunities, and strengthen nutrition services for displaced and host communities.
