CWAY OTG Drinking Water is a product line by CWAY Nigeria Drinking Water Science & Technology Company Limited, a leading beverage and water company in Nigeria and Africa. "OTG" signifies "on-the-go," referring to the 75cl bottled water designed for convenient, portable hydration. As part of the larger CWAY Group, the company provides innovative water dispensers and a variety of beverages, including fruit milk, yogurt, and energy drinks, with significant investments in factories and employee development across multiple countries.
The Quality Control Manager is responsible for planning and coordinating quality control activities to ensure that all products meet established standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
The role involves overseeing laboratory operations, monitoring production processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement quality systems: Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Control policies, procedures, and standards by enforcing quality control procedures and standards for all stages of production, including preparation, bottling, and packaging
Support continuous improvement and risk management initiatives.Any other responsibilities or assignments as instructed by management.
Ensure product compliance: Monitor production processes and raw materials /packaging materials to ensure they meet safety, regulatory, and internal quality standards.Conduct daily routine analysis of raw water, treated water, and finished products.
Prepare quality reports and present findingsto management regularly.
Testing and analysis: Oversee laboratory testing, analyze results, and take corrective action when necessary. This includes testing for characteristics like taste, flavor, pH, and moisture, as well as monitoring laboratory equipment performance.
Review and approve test results, Certificates of Analysis (COA), and batch records.Monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs)and process parameters.
Manage calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Team leadership: Coach, mentor, train, and supervise the quality control team to ensure effective performance and adherence to quality standards.
Supervise daily QC laboratory operations and staff performance.
Regular training and mentoring of QC personnel on testing procedures and GMP /GHK requirements
Enforce hygiene, sanitation, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)/Good Housekeeping Practices (GHK).
Documentation and reporting: Maintain accurate records of all quality control activities, including test results, compliance certificates (e.g., Certificate of Analysis), and audit findings. Submit reports to management regularly.
Continuous improvement: Drive initiatives to improve production processes, reduce waste, and enhance the overall quality of the products produced.
Audit coordination: Participate in internal audits and assist the QAM with external audits by regulatory bodies or certifying agencies.
Customer and supplier liaison: Address customer complaints and work with suppliers/vendors to ensure the quality and compliance of incoming raw materials/packaging materials.
Investigate product complaints, non-conformities, and deviations using Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or related field.
Minimum of 5–10 years of experience in Quality Control in beverages/packaged water or FMCG industries.
Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 22000 / FSMS, HACCP, and GMP/GHK principles.
Familiarity with laboratory testing methods, microbiology and quality tools (5 WHY, CAPA, SPC, etc.).
Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
