Job Title: Head, Quality Control
Location:Lagos
Job Purpose
The Head of Quality Assurance (QA) oversees the complete quality management system for DPL production operations, ensuring all products meet internal specifications, customer requirements, and statutory/regulatory standards.
The role includes establishing quality procedures, leading the QA team, ensuring process control at all stages (tape line, weaving, extrusion coating/lamination, printing, automatic cutting/stitching), and driving continuous improvement.
Develop and implement the overall quality strategy and quality management system (QMS).
Establish quality KPIs, benchmarks, and performance standards for all production departments.
Lead, mentor, and train the QA/QC team to maintain strong quality culture across the plant.
Quality Planning & Process Control:
Set testing standards and inspection protocols for raw materials (PP/HDPE granules, masterbatch, additives), in-process materials (tape, fabric), and finished goods.
Ensure strict process control in tape extrusion, weaving, lamination/coating, printing, and conversion.
Approve process parameters and ensure adherence to SOPs and work instructions.
Product Quality & Compliance:
Ensure products meet customer specifications related to GSM, denier, tensile strength, elongation, coating adhesion, UV stability, fabric width, lamination quality, printing quality, and stitching.
Conduct root-cause analysis for quality failures and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
Maintain compliance with ISO standards (ISO 9001) and other industry certifications.
Customer Interface & Complaint Handling:
Communicate with customers regarding quality issues, specifications, approvals, and audits.
Investigate customer complaints, generate reports, and ensure timely resolution.
Provide product improvement recommendations based on feedback and testing results.
Testing & Documentation:
Oversee laboratory operations, including tensile test machines, GSM testers, UV test chambers, coating adhesion testers, and other equipment.
Maintain all quality documentation, including COAs, test reports, SOPs, calibration records, audit reports, and compliance data.
Ensure all instruments are calibrated and maintained per standards.
Continuous Improvement:
Drive quality improvement initiatives to reduce rejection rates, wastage, and customer complaints.
Implement Six Sigma/Lean methodologies where applicable.
Support the development of new products and improvement in product performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with production, maintenance, R&D, procurement, and supply chain teams.
Approve new suppliers for raw materials after evaluation and testing.
Participate in trials for new materials, processes, and machinery.
Job Requirements
Education:
Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Polymer Engineering, Textile Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
A Master’s degree is a plus.
Experience:
Minimum requirement: 10–15+ years of progressive QA experience in PP woven sacks, flexible packaging, or polymer extrusion.
Familiar with ISO 9001, quality audits, and customer approval processes.
Added Advantage:
Strong understanding of tape line technology, circular loom operations, lamination/coating, flexographic printing, and stitching processes.
Hands-on experience with quality tools (FMEA, SPC, MSA, 5-Why, Fishbone, CAPA, Root Cause Analysis).
