Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), founded by Aare Afe Babalola is a Federal Government-licensed, non-profit private University is a model which is unique in many ways. It is located on 130 hectares of land at an altitude of over 1500 feet above sea level which ipso facto provides cool and ideal climate of learning and sports activities. It is the only university in Nigeria, which prior to the issuance of provisional license by the Federal Government of Nigeria, moved to its permanent site and constructed magnificent College buildings and College Hostels, Staff Quarters and equipped with modern teaching facilities including E-learning platform and electronic boards within eight months. Consequently, National Universities Commission (NUC) was so impressed that it described the university as a "miracle, model reference point and benchmark" for other universities.

Job Description
The University Librarian is a Principal Officer of the University who is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the administration of the University Library and its branches as well as for providing leadership in advancing the University's teaching, learning and research goals through effective management of library resources and services.
Duties and Responsibilities
The University Librarian shall:
Oversee the overall administration of the University Library and its satellite libraries.
Formulate and implement library policies and strategies in line with the University's vision.
Ensure the effective development, management, and preservation of information resources in print and electronic formats.
Promote digital transformation of library services to enhance teaching, learning, and research.
Supervise and develop library staff for optimal performance.
Maintain collaboration with national and international library associations and institutions.
Serve as Secretary to the University Library Committee.
Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Vice-Chancellor.
Qualification and Experience
Applicants should:
Possess a Ph.D Degree in Library and Information Science or related field from a recognized University.
Have at least fifteen (15) years of post-qualification experience, with not less than five (5) years at a senior management level (e.g., Deputy University Librarian) in an academic library.
Be a professionally qualified Librarian, registered with the Librarians' Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN).
Demonstrate evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and contribution to knowledge in Library and Information Science.
Possess strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Be ICT-profficient and innovative in digital library management.
Must not be more than fifty (50) years of age at the time of appointment.
Tenure and Conditions of Service
The University Librarian shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years and shall be eligible for reappointment for one further term, subject to satisfactory performance.
