Youth Integrated For Positive Development Initiative is a youth-led organization established on the 26th day of March 2014. The organization is providing humanitarian assistance to the conflict-affected and marginalized group especially vulnerable women, children, youths, and elderly, by protecting their rights, restoring their means of livelihood, and provision of basic education, water sanitation, and hygiene, food security as well as shelter including women and youth empowerment.
We work closely together with young people, their families, community, stakeholders, partner organization donors, and community stakeholders at grass root level, thereby mobilizing resources to support our project in diverse areas of human development, addressing critical developmental challenges facing young people and their society through community based approach as well as youth lead initiative to achieve a durable solution.

Job Title: Finance Manager
Location: Maiduguri, Borno (With Minimal field-based visits)

Role Purpose
As a Finance Manager at Youth Integrated for Positive Development Initiative Nigeria, you will play a crucial role in ensuring effective financial management, compliance with regulations, and efficient utilization of resources to support the organization's mission of improving the well-being of vulnerable population in North-East Nigeria.
You will lead the finance team, provide strategic financial guidance, and contribute to organizational decision-making processes.
Key Areas of Accountabilities
Financial Management:
Reviews and verifies monthly / quarterly account returns and balance sheet reconciliations for the Country Program; ensures appropriate course of action is followed to address significant/extraordinary movements in asset and liability accounts and to adjust any outstanding balances.
Reviews and verifies reconciliation of Restricted contract balances and ensures that issues arising as a result are addressed and dealt in a timely manner.
Cash and cash flow management and control,
Coordination with filed office manager and CO teams for Preparation of quarterly Cash Forecast
Ensures availability of sufficient funds at bank for YIPDI.
Ensures adherence to donor financial requirements and procedures.
Monitors the implementation and application of the financial controls and compliance with all legal and statutory reporting requirements, identifies solutions to problems and ensures that they are implemented in a timely, effective and efficient manner.
Ensures appropriate and secure record keeping for financial transactions in line with donor, YIPDI and statutory requirements in the country.
Ensures that recommendations of audits, concerning the finance function, are implemented in a timely, effective and efficient manner, and reports progress on implementation of the recommendations periodically.
Ensure there’s proper internal control at filed offices i.e. segregation of duties for finance staff, assets safe guarding, ensure the scheme of delegation is well adhered and analyse any potential financial risks.
Conduct random check for all suppliers and beneficiary’s payments to ensure integrity of financial records.
Support Finance Director in any investigation related to Field Offices.
Ensures that effective systems are put in place, and regularly reviewed, to allow adequate financial management and control including:
Financial Planning and Budgeting:
Develop and oversee annual and project-specific budgets in alignment with organizational goals and donor requirements.
Coordinate with program managers and other stakeholders to ensure accurate budget projections and spending plans.
Monitor budget implementation and provide regular updates to management regarding financial performance.
Coordinate with program managers and other stakeholders while working on any budget realignments or budget modifications.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for internal stakeholders, donors, and regulatory authorities.
Ensure compliance with donor reporting requirements and deadlines.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities for cost optimization.
Grants Management:
Manage financial aspects of grants and contracts, including budget development, expenditure tracking, and compliance with donor regulations.
Work closely with program teams to ensure alignment of financial and programmatic activities.
Facilitate audits and reviews of grant-funded projects, ensuring adherence to audit recommendations.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively.
Capacity Building and Training:
Provide training and mentorship to finance staff and non-finance staff on financial procedures, donor regulations, and compliance requirements.
Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement within the finance team and across the organization.
Provide training and capacity building on financial procedures, donor regulations, and compliance requirements.
Partnership and Collaboration:
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including program teams, HR, and administration, to ensure smooth coordination and integration of financial activities.
Build effective relationships with external partners, including donors, banks, auditors, implementing partners and government agencies.
Financial Systems and Processes:
Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and software to support efficient financial management and reporting.
Streamline financial processes and procedures to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.
Responsible for effective management and operation of the FMS financial system.
Ensures timely and accurate data entry into FMS
Audit and Compliance:
Liaise with external auditors for annual audits and ensure compliance with audit recommendations.
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation to support audit requirements.
Financial Analysis and Decision Support:
Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to management for improving financial performance and sustainability.
Emergency Response and Contingency Planning:
Contribute to the development of emergency response plans and ensure readiness to mobilize financial resources during crises or emergencies.
Coordinate with other departments to support emergency preparedness and response efforts.
Qualification, Experience, and Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; Masters, advanced degree or professional certification preferred.
5 to 15 years of progressive experience in financial management, preferably in the nonprofit sector, international development context or Public Sector.
Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting, grants management, and compliance requirements.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.
Proficiency in financial software and systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Demonstrated leadership abilities, including team management, capacity building, and problem-solving skills.
Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and challenging environment.
