Job Title: Security Adviser- Swamp and Offshore Operations

Summary
The Security Adviser is the principal expert responsible for developing, managing, and executing the company's security strategy, protocols, and risk mitigation plans to protect personnel, assets, and operations in Nigeria's volatile swamp and shallow offshore environments.
The role involves continuous threat assessment, managing security contractors, and liaising with government security agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Security Risk Assessment: Conduct regular, detailed security threat and vulnerability assessments (TVA) specific to swamp transit routes, rig locations, and offshore vessels. Provide timely intelligence briefs and risk ratings to executive management.
Security Strategy & Planning: Develop and update the corporate security strategy, policies, and detailed operational security plans (e.g.. Journey Management Plan, Asset Protection Plan) tailored for the high-risk Niger Delta operating environment.
Contractor Management: Oversee and manage the performance of all contracted security providers (e.g.. MOPOL, Navy escorts, private security guards) for onshore bases, swamp operations, and offshore protection vessels (PVS).
Ensure compliance with terms of reference and rules of engagement.
Liaison: Maintain strong, professional working
relationships with relevant government security agencies (e.g., Nigerian Navy, Army, DSS, Civil Defence) and community security structures to ensure effective support and timely intelligence sharing.
Emergency Response: Coordinate the security aspect of the Emergency Response Plan (ERP), including developing robust protocols for crisis management, kidnap and ransom (K&R) response, and security evacuation procedures (Medevac/Casevac).
Asset Protection: Implement protective security measures for critical company assets, including high-value equipment, production flowlines, and key infrastructure in swamp and offshore fields, to guard against sabotage, vandalism, and crude oil theft.
Investigations: Lead or support internal investigations into security incidents, breaches, theft, and corporate espionage.
Budget Management: Manage the security budget effectively, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to cover fixed security details, escorts, technology, and intelligence gathering.
Qualifications and Competencies
Education: Bachelor's degree in security management, Criminology, Political Science, Intelligence Studies, or a related field. Professional security certifications (e.g.. CPP, PSP) are highly desirable.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in security management, with a significant portion spent in the upstream oil and gas sector in Nigeria. Previous experience in the military, police, or intelligence services is a strong advantage.
Regional Knowledge: Deep, verifiable understanding of the sociopolitical and security dynamics of the Niger Delta region, including community engagement protocols and conflict resolution.
Skills: Exceptional crisis management and communication skills. Proven ability to conduct complex security assessments, interpret intelligence, and operate under pressure. Must possess the highest level of integrity and discretion.
