Job Title: Document Management Professional

Summary
Ensure effective governance, control, and lifecycle management of all technical and operational documents in the upstream oil and gas environment.
Maintain accuracy, integrity, and accessibility of information across exploration, drilling, production, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Document Control and Governance:
Develop and implement document control procedures aligned with company and regulatory standards (DPR/NUPRC, ISO 9001).
Manage the creation, review, approval, revision, and archival of technical and operational documents.
Ensure compliance with corporate records management policies and data retention requirements.
Technical Documentation Management:
Administer and maintain electronic document
management systems (EDMS) such as SharePoint, OpenText, or Documentum.
Classify and index documents including well files, seismic reports, drilling logs, production data, and engineering drawings.
Manage metadata integrity and ensure proper version control across all documentation.
Collaboration and Support:
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (geoscience, drilling, production, HSE, and projects) to standardize documentation processes.
Train staff on document control tools and ensure adherence to document management protocols.
Support audits and regulatory submissions by ensuring document readiness and traceability.
Quality and Compliance:
Perform regular audits to verify document quality. consistency, and accuracy.
Track document change history and maintain document registers.
Ensure alignment with local content requirements and Nigerian Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to automate document workflows and improve retrieval efficiency.
Recommend system enhancements and coordinate with IT on implementation.
Benchmark against industry best practices for E&P document management.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in information management, Library Science, Geoscience, Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 5-7 years' experience in document control within the upstream oil and gas sector.
Strong knowledge of exploration, drilling, and production documentation standards.
Proven experience with EDMS (e.g., OpenText,
SharePoint, ProArc, Documentum, or similar).
Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 27001, and NUPRC regulatory requirements.
Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience supporting asset data migration or integration projects.
Knowledge of subsurface data formats (LAS, SEG-Y, WITSML).
Certification in records management or document control (AIIM, ARMA, or equivalent).
Understanding of upstream data standards (PPDM, Energistics).
