Wellness Session Facilitator (Volunteer) at Rec Room Wellness

Rec Room Wellness is a social enterprise dedicated to addressing the global mental health crisis by creating safe and brave spaces for relaxation, education, and fun. At our events, you will learn important topics to boost your awareness of your mental health, put words to feelings, and build resilience against the adversities of life. You will also practice self-care activities, learn new hobbies, and create connections with like-minded community members. We also offer wellness workshops for students and staff, longitudinal wellness cohorts, and in-person wellness events and retreats.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Wellness Session Facilitator (Volunteer)

Location: Lagos

Objective

• To hold space for meaningful, inclusive, and healing-centered conversations and activities that align with Rec Room Wellness’ mission of promoting mental wellness and community care.

Expectations

• Commit to up to 10 sessions per month (schedule confirmed in advance)
• Attend team meetings and required trainings
• Give at least 2 days' notice if unable to facilitate a session

Responsibilities

• Facilitate live virtual wellness sessions up to 3 times a week
• Arrive early to prepare the virtual space and greet attendees
• Open each session with a grounding practice or welcome check-in
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive tone throughout the session
• Respond appropriately to community needs, including moments of emotional sensitivity
• Share upcoming Rec Room Wellness events and blog posts when relevant
• Submit a brief session recap (attendance + highlights) within 48 hours of each event

Session Format

• Opening (20 mins): Introductions, grounding practice, and community check-in
• Main Activity (50 mins): Guided discussion and wellness activity
• Close (20 mins): Reflections and closing announcements

Tools:

• Google Meet or another approved virtual platform
• Rec Room Wellness’ session planning templates and facilitation resources
• Access to the team calendar and shared session archive

Content Style and Tone:

• Facilitators should lead with empathy, imagination, and respect. Our sessions should reflect Rec Room Wellness’ values by:
  • Holding space for diverse perspectives and experiences
  • Encouraging creativity, storytelling, and expression
  • Staying present, nonjudgmental, and inclusive

Requirements

• An interest in mental wellness, service, and positive community building
• Consistency and reliability (5-10 hours weekly depending on role)
• Good communication skills
• Openness to learning and teamwork
• Alignment with our IMPACT values
