Video Editor (Volunteer) at Rec Room Wellness

Rec Room Wellness is a social enterprise dedicated to addressing the global mental health crisis by creating safe and brave spaces for relaxation, education, and fun. At our events, you will learn important topics to boost your awareness of your mental health, put words to feelings, and build resilience against the adversities of life. You will also practice self-care activities, learn new hobbies, and create connections with like-minded community members. We also offer wellness workshops for students and staff, longitudinal wellness cohorts, and in-person wellness events and retreats.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Video Editor (Volunteer)

Location: Lagos

Objective

• To craft visually engaging, mission-aligned video content that supports Rec Room Wellness’ programming, community engagement, and storytelling across digital platforms.

Expectations

• Responsible for completing up to 5 short video projects per month
• Stick to timelines as set by the Communications and Content Lead
• Attend content planning meetings and required trainings/check-ins
• Deliver high-quality, original work that reflects Rec Room Wellness’ values.

Responsibilities

• Edit short-form videos (Reels, YT Shorts, and TikTok Videos)
• Collaborate with the content team to bring campaign ideas and blog content to life
• Ensure all videos follow Rec Room Wellness’ visual identity and tone
• Add music, captions, transitions, and branded visuals as needed
• Deliver drafts on time and incorporate feedback
• Occasionally, source stock footage or organize user-submitted clips.

Project Workflow:

• Receive content briefs and raw footage from the content team
• Submit the first cut within 3-5 days of receiving materials
• Receive and apply 1–2 rounds of edits if needed
• Final deliverables are due no later than the Monday before scheduled publication.

Tools:

• Access to shared Rec Room Wellness’ Google Drive and brand asset library
• Use of video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, CapCut, or Canva)
• Template folders and project trackers provided by the content team.

Content Style and Tone:
Video content should reflect Rec Room Wellness’ values by:

• Uplifting diverse stories, voices, and lived experiences
• Using accessible, clear, and inclusive language
• Incorporating creative and imaginative visuals
• Promoting community building and self-expression.

Requirements
Skills & Qualities:

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to track multiple tasks and follow up diplomatically.
• Reliable, proactive, and detail-oriented.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, team-based environment.

Other Requirements:

• An interest in mental wellness, service, and positive community building
• Consistency and reliability (5-10 hours weekly, depending on role)
• Good communication skills
• Openness to learning and teamwork
