Job Title: Program Manager
Location: Borno
Role Summary
The Program Manager will lead the planning, coordination, and day-to-day implementation of all programmatic activities across the NGO’s thematic areas. As the pioneer technical lead, the Program Manager will guide project design, community engagement, documentation, and reporting while ensuring quality, coordination, and adherence to organizational standards.
This role is suitable for a passionate individual who wants to be part of building a new organization from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
Program Planning & Implementation:
Develop and implement work plans across Health Promotion, Nutrition, Education, GBV/CP, WASH, and Peace Building programs.
Lead community outreach and mobilization activities.
Coordinate field operations with staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders.
Facilitate trainings, awareness campaigns, and community sessions.
Technical Coordination:
Serve as focal point for sector-specific interventions (Health Promotion, Education, Protection, etc.).
Ensure activities align with cluster standards and best practices.
Support development of program methodologies and tools.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting:
Work with the MEAL Officer to ensure timely data collection and documentation.
Review activity reports, field notes, attendance sheets, and beneficiary records.
Contribute to monthly and quarterly reports.
Maintain strong documentation and evidence for future partnership opportunities.
Stakeholder & Community Engagement:
Build and maintain relationships with partners, community leaders, government officials, and cluster actors.
Represent the organization during community entry meetings and relevant NGO coordination forums (as needed).
Support advocacy and local engagement initiatives.
Resource & Activity Management:
Coordinate with Logistics and Finance teams to ensure proper planning for materials and resources.
Track activity-level expenses and ensure proper documentation.
Maintain schedules for field activities and team assignments.
Organizational Development Support:
Support proposal writing and concept development for future funding opportunities.
Help refine organizational policies, program systems, and operational standards.
Provide mentorship and guidance to program and field staff.
Academic Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Public Health, Education, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Peace & Conflict Studies, Development Studies, Nutrition, or other relevant fields.
Master’s degree is an added advantage but not mandatory.
Preferred Skills & Competencies:
Strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills.
Ability to design activity plans and community engagement strategies.
Good understanding of humanitarian and development concepts.
Experience in one or more of the NGO’s thematic areas.
Ability to write reports and maintain activity documentation.
Willingness to work with communities within Maiduguri.
Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel).
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
General Requirements:
Applicants must be 20 years of age or above.
Applicants must be residents of Maiduguri Metropolis.
