We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Crewing Manager
Location: Lagos
Key Responsibilities
Crew Planning & Management:
Plan and coordinate manning of all company vessels in line with operational schedules and crewing requirements.
Ensure all vessels are manned with competent, medically fit, and duly certified seafarers in compliance with STCW, MLC 2006, and flag state regulations.
Maintain an updated crew rotation plan and monitor crew changes, ensuring timely reliefs and handovers.
Verify crew certifications to confirm authenticity.
Recruitment & Selection:
Source, interview, and select qualified seafarers according to company standards and minimum crew certificate requirement per position
Build and maintain a reliable pool of seafarers for current and projected operations.
Manage relationships with crewing or manning agencies where applicable.
Training & Competence:
Identify and coordinate mandatory training and certification renewals for all seafarers.
Maintain updated records of crew training, performance appraisals, and career progression.
Crew Welfare & Discipline:
Oversee crew welfare, ensuring proper communication and resolution of welfare or disciplinary matters.
Ensure compliance with company and statutory provisions on seafarer welfare and working conditions.
Regulatory Liaison & Compliance:
Serve as the company’s primary liaison with Maritime Labour (e.g., NIMASA Maritime Labour Services Department) on:
Issuance and renewal of Manning Licences.
Verification and submission of crew certificates and endorsements.
Compliance with national manning requirements and crew documentation standards.
Maintain up-to-date crew and vessel crewing records in readiness for inspections and audits.
Ensure compliance with the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC 2006), STCW, and flag state requirements.
Coordination & Reporting:
Liaise with Masters, Technical Superintendents, and HR/Finance on crew changes, payroll, and welfare issues.
Prepare and submit periodic crewing reports to management and regulatory authorities.
Support audit and vetting processes related to crewing operations.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Human Resources, or related discipline.
4 – 7 years’ experience in crew management, preferably in a shipping or offshore company.
Sound knowledge of STCW, MLC 2006, and NIMASA / flag state crewing regulations.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and crewing management software.
