Job Title: Silo Operator

Job Summary
The Silo Operator will be responsible for efficiently receiving, handling, and processing soya beans.
Your role is pivotal in ensuring the cleanliness of the reception area, effective waste management, and strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
You will play a crucial role in upholding high-quality standards while efficiently managing the reception process.
Key Result Areas (KRA)
The key result areas of this role are:
Ensure the reliability of silo equipment by conducting regular maintenance and minimizing breakdowns.
Ensure the reliable and efficient operation of equipment and machinery through proactive maintenance.
Ensure timely and efficient reception of soya beans.
Manage waste generated during the reception process effectively
Adherence to housekeeping standards and GMP guidelines.
Responsibilities
Soya Beans Reception: Oversee the reception of incoming soya beans. Inspect the quality and quantity of the beans to ensure they meet the specified standards before acceptance.
Quality Control: Implement and enforce GMP principles during the reception process. Conduct regular quality checks on incoming soya beans. Address any quality issues promptly and document necessary corrective actions.
Storage and Inventory Management: Safely store received soya beans in designated areas. Implement proper inventory management techniques to prevent spoilage and ensure the freshness of raw materials.
Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain equipment used in the reception process, such as conveyors, elevators, and cleaning machinery. Conduct regular checks to ensure equipment is functioning optimally.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance and repairs on silo machinery, ensuring optimal functionality. Troubleshoot issues and conduct necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
Preventive Maintenance: Develop and follow a preventive maintenance schedule for all silo equipment. Conduct routine inspections and identify potential issues before they escalate.
Effective Waste Management: Manage waste generated during the reception process effectively, minimizing environmental impact and ensuring compliance with waste management regulations
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of received soya beans, including quantities, quality assessments, and supplier information. Prepare detailed reports for quality control and inventory management purposes.
The Person
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Additional technical certifications or vocational training in maintenance, agriculture, food science, or related fields is a plus.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within the agricultural or food processing industry is preferred.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and suppliers. Effective communication skills to coordinate with different teams.
Strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and mentor team members, delegate tasks effectively, and resolve conflicts.
Keen attention to detail and ability to identify equipment issues accurately. Strong problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Knowledge of safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment, and problem-solving skills to identify issues, develop innovative solutions, and implement process improvements.
