Head of Sales / Business Development at a Fast-Growing Microfinance Bank

Since 2016, the organization has been operating under full regulatory licensing and deposit insurance. Its mission has been to expand access to reliable financial services for underserved populations, particularly women entrepreneurs. Over the years, it has supported hundreds of individuals in opening their first bank accounts, helping them navigate a banking system that can often feel unnecessarily complex. Recognizing that many found the barriers too discouraging, the organization focused on bringing financial services closer to the communities that needed them most.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head of Sales / Business Development

Location: Island, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time (Hybrid)

Description

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sales and business development strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets
• Lead, coach, and motivate the sales team to drive consistent high performance
• Identify new markets, strategic partnerships, and profitable customer segments
• Build and maintain strong client relationships to enhance retention and growth
• Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer insights to inform sales strategy
• Oversee the development of sales pitches, proposals, and presentations
• Establish and track key performance metrics for the sales team's effectiveness
• Collaborate with product, marketing, and operations teams to align business development initiatives
• Drive customer acquisition campaigns and implement cross-selling/up-selling strategies
• Conduct regular sales reviews, forecast revenue, and report performance to executive leadership
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies within sales activities

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field
• 5–8 years’ experience in sales or business development (preferably in financial services)
• Proven track record of meeting sales targets and leading successful sales teams
• Strong strategic thinking, negotiation, and communication skills
• Ability to build and sustain high-value client relationships.

Benefits

• Salary: N700,000 – N750,000 / month (net)
• Other Benefits: HMO, Pension, Leave Allowance, and 13 months.
