Over the years, Matrix Energy has grown from a modest supply and distributions operation to a fully integrated petroleum products marketing and trading company with clients and suppliers all over the world.
To ensure that all raw materials, in-process blends, and finished lubricants meet required quality standards and specifications through effective sampling, testing, and online process monitoring.
The role supports consistent product quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across blending and filling operations.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Product Testing & Analysis:
Conduct laboratory tests on base oils, additives, semi-finished, and finished lubricants to verify conformity with product specifications.
Perform physical and chemical analyses (viscosity, density, flash point, TBN/TAN, pour point, etc.) using appropriate testing equipment and ASTM methods.
Record, interpret, and report analytical results accurately and promptly.
Identify deviations and recommend corrective actions to production or blending teams.
Maintain calibration and validation of laboratory instruments to ensure testing accuracy.
Process and Blending Monitoring:
Monitor blending and filling operations to ensure adherence to approved formulations and production standards.
Collaborate with production personnel to resolve process deviations that may affect product quality.
Verify and sign off on batch manufacturing records (BMRs) after successful quality testing.
Raw Material and Packaging Quality Control:
Inspect and test incoming base oils, additives, and packaging materials before acceptance into inventory.
Ensure only approved materials are released for production.
Maintain updated quality status reports for all incoming and in-process materials.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate laboratory records, test reports, and product quality certificates.
Ensure traceability of all samples through proper labeling and documentation.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly QC reports for management review.
Support internal and external quality audits with required documentation and compliance evidence.
Compliance and Continuous Improvement:
Ensure strict compliance with Quality Management System (QMS), ISO standards, and HSE policies.
Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementation for quality deviations.
Contribute to continuous improvement of blending and testing processes.
Provide technical input in the development and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for QC and production activities.
Perform other related duties as may be assigned by management.
Requirements
Educational Requirement:
Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in Quality Control or Laboratory Analysis within a Lubricant Blending Plant or Chemical Manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of lubricant blending and testing processes.
Hands-on experience with standard QC testing equipment (viscometers, flash point testers, density meters, etc.).
Understanding of ASTM, ISO, and NIS testing standards.
Ability to interpret and analyze test data accurately.
Soft Skills:
High attention to detail and analytical ability.
Excellent documentation and communication skills.
