Job Title: Lube Plant Control Room Operator - Lube
The Control Room Operator is responsible for the continuous monitoring, coordination, and control of all production processes and equipment from the control room.
The role ensures that operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in full compliance with established quality, safety, and environmental standards.
This position serves as the communication hub between field operators, maintenance, and production management, ensuring real-time decision-making and effective plant performance.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Operational Monitoring and Control:
Continuously monitor production activities and process parameters via DCS/SCADA systems and other control instruments.
Ensure production processes operate within defined parameters to achieve optimal product quality and throughput.
Adjust control settings as necessary to maintain process stability and efficiency.
Promptly identify and report abnormalities, alarms, or equipment malfunctions to the relevant supervisor or maintenance team.
Coordinate with field operators to implement corrective actions and ensure operational continuity.
Data Management and Reporting
Record, analyze, and maintain accurate logs of production data, equipment readings, and daily activities.
Prepare shift reports, operational summaries, and deviation logs for management review.
Support the implementation of performance dashboards and assist in interpreting process trends.
Safety, Quality, and Compliance:
Strictly adhere to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Participate actively in emergency response drills and assist in implementing safe shutdown or start-up procedures.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal quality assurance requirements.
Immediately report safety hazards, near misses, or incidents to the appropriate authority.
Communication and Coordination:
Maintain clear communication between control room and field operations personnel during shift activities.
Participate in shift handovers, ensuring detailed information exchange and operational continuity.
Liaise with maintenance and technical teams to coordinate routine checks, troubleshooting, and corrective actions.
Perform other related duties as may be assigned by management.
Continuous Improvement
Contribute ideas for optimizing production efficiency and minimizing downtime.
Participate in process audits, root cause analysis, and reliability improvement initiatives.
Support the review and update of SOPs to reflect process changes or lessons learned.
Education Requirements
HND / B.Sc. in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering or related technical discipline.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or oil & gas plant environment (preferably in blending, terminal, or tank farm operations).
Familiarity with process automation systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA) and instrumentation control principles.
Sound understanding of process flow diagrams, equipment operation, and product quality parameters.
Strong appreciation for HSE practices and emergency procedures.
