Job Purpose
To operate forklifts safely and efficiently and other material handling equipment to move, stack, load, and unload raw materials, packaging, and finished products within the plant premises.
The role ensures smooth warehouse and production operations through proper material handling, compliance with HSE standards, and accurate documentation of movements.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Forklift Operation:
Operate forklift and other lifting equipment safely in accordance with company procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
Load and unload containers, pallets of base oil, additives, packaging materials, and finished lubricants.
Transport materials between blending, filling, and storage areas within the plant.
Stack and organize goods systematically in the warehouse to optimize space and accessibility.
Assist with material transfers to production lines based on daily requirements.
Equipment Maintenance and Safety:
Conduct daily pre-operation checks (fuel, oil, brakes, horn, lights, hydraulics) and report any faults immediately.
Ensure forklifts are always in safe working conditions and comply with HSE standards.
Maintain cleanliness and proper parking of the forklift after each use.
Report maintenance issues or accidents promptly to the Supervisor.
Observe speed limits, safety signage, and traffic rules within plant premises.
Material Handling and Record Keeping:
Ensure proper handling of goods to avoid damage or contamination, especially for packaged lubricants and chemical materials.
Verify product labels and quantities before movement or loading
Support warehouse staff in accurate record-keeping of inbound and outbound materials.
Work closely with storekeepers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials to production.
HSE Compliance:
Always wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while on duty.
Participate in safety briefings, toolbox talks, and HSE training sessions.
Ensure safe lifting and stacking procedures in compliance with HSE regulations.
Support emergency response and housekeeping activities in the warehouse area.
Compliance and Policy Adherence:
Strictly comply with the company’s Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) policies at all times.
Adhere to all Operational Procedures, Quality Standards, and Company Policies governing warehouse and plant activities.
Ensure all forklift operations align with regulatory safety standards and internal compliance requirements.
Participate in all required compliance audits, safety drills, and mandatory training programs.
Demonstrate integrity and accountability in all activities, in line with the organization’s Code of Conduct and Ethical Policy.
Perform other related duties as may be assigned by management.
Requirements
Educational Qualifications:
Education: Candidates should possess an SSCE / OND or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years proven experience as a Forklift Driver in a manufacturing, logistics, or industrial plant environment.
Technical Skills:
Valid Forklift Operator License and certification.
Ability to operate both diesel and electric forklifts.
Good understanding of load balance, material handling, and stacking procedures.
Basic mechanical knowledge of forklift equipment.
Soft Skills:
Strong attention to safety and operational discipline.
