About the Role
Our fast-growing agro-producing company is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Account Officer to support daily financial operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a production or manufacturing environment, where attention to cost tracking, inventory reconciliation, and financial accuracy is essential.
This position plays a key role in ensuring proper documentation, accurate record-keeping, and timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Financial Operations:
The Account Officer will record financial transactions, update ledgers, post entries into accounting systems, and ensure proper filing of invoices, receipts, payment vouchers, and other documentation.
They will assist the Accountant with analyzing financial information and preparing daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
Accounts Payable & Receivable Management:
The role includes managing supplier and customer accounts, preparing payment schedules, processing approved payments, raising invoices, issuing receipts, reconciling balances, and ensuring proper follow-up on outstanding amounts.
Banking & Reconciliation:
The Account Officer will assist with preparing bank deposit slips, ensuring timely lodgment of cash and cheques, conducting daily bank reconciliations, and reporting discrepancies promptly.
Inventory & Cost Support (Production Environment):
Working closely with the store and production teams, the Account Officer will help track raw material usage, reconcile stock records, monitor variances, and support cost control efforts.
The individual must be able to verify stock movement documents, purchase records, and production consumption sheets.
Payroll & Staff Expenses Support:
They will assist in preparing payroll schedules, verifying attendance sheets, reviewing expense claims, and ensuring proper approval and documentation.
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
The role supports the preparation of compliance documents, tax records, audit schedules, petty cash management, and adherence to company financial policies.
The officer will maintain an up-to-date filing system for financial documents for audit readiness.
Collaboration & Support:
The Account Officer works directly under the Accountant but collaborates with procurement, store, operations, and admin teams to ensure proper financial controls and accurate internal reporting.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
1–3 years relevant experience, preferably in an agro, production, manufacturing, or FMCG environment.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping, and reconciliation procedures.
Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
Good Excel skills.
High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and financial discipline.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Salary
N150,000 Monthly.
