Nigerian British University is a world-class private University poised to develop global competitiveness by employing technological innovation to ensure practical and relevant academic experiences. The Nigerian British University was granted its Provisional License to operate as a University in Nigeria by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in May 2022 and was commissioned in February 2023. The University commenced academic activities in October 2023 with three take-off Faculties, namely: Computing & Information Technology, Management & Social Sciences and Law. In September 2024, the NUC approved the establishment of two additional Faculties in the University: Basic Medical & Allied Health Sciences and Engineering & Applied Sciences. The five Faculties have admitted students and are fully operational. The University received its Full Operational License from the NUC in August 2025.

Job Title: Vice Chancellor

Overview
The Governing Council of the Nigerian British University hereby announces that the position of the Vice Chancellor will be vacant on the 9th of February 2026. In accordance with the provisions of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Decree 1993, Decree No 11as amended, the Council directs that applications be invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacancy.
The Job
The Vice Chancellor is the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the University as well as the ex officio Chairman of Senate and a member of the Governing Council.
He or she is responsible to the Council in matters of policy implementation in the areas of finance, property/facilities, general and effective administration of the institution.
The Vice Chancellor is also responsible to the University Senate for the administration of academic programmes, and staff and students discipline in consonance with extant rules and regulations
Requirements
The candidate for the post of the Vice Chancellor must be a distinguished academic with cognate experience in University teaching, research and administration.
The Vice Chancellor should be a proven manager of human and material resources.
Specifically, the candidate shall be expected to:
Possess a PhD or its equivalent professional qualification and be a full Professor of not less than 5 years in a recognised university as at the date of this advertisement.
Not be above 60 years old at the time of taking up this appointment on 9th February 2026.
Have gained enough experience in high-level University administration and am a highly motivated and innovative scholar with the ability to provide leadership to a well-informed and growing academic community.
Be a person with a good grasp of Information and Communication Technology skills
Be able to create the needed bridges between the University community on one hand, and its stakeholders on the other hand,
Demonstrate high international visibility and exposure, preferably in the British Higher Educational System,
Demonstrate high academic productivity as reflected in scholarly publications and successful postgraduate supervision;
Have External Linkages with the ability to attract grant(s) to the University (NBU);
Be humane and can take decisive actions on the merit of facts and principles
Be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties required of the Office of the Vice Chancellor.
Salary and Conditions of Service
The Salary and Conditions of Service are as applicable to the Post of Vice Chancellor in Private Universities in Nigeria, and as may be determined by the Governing Council from time to time.
The successful candidate shall serve for a single term of five (5) years.
