Job Summary
The School Accountant at Wellspring College is responsible for managing the school’s financial operations with excellence, transparency, and integrity.
The role supports the effective stewardship of resources by ensuring accurate accounting, timely reporting, and compliance with financial policies.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Record-Keeping
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ledgers, and accounts.
Process invoices, receipts, payments, and reimbursements.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.
Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions.
Budgeting & Planning:
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial projections.
Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and provide variance reports.
Advise school leadership on financial performance and cost control.
School Fees & Revenue Management:
Manage student billing, fee collection, and receipting.
Track outstanding fees and follow up with parents/guardians professionally.
Reconcile fee accounts and ensure revenue accuracy.
Banking & Reconciliation:
Prepare and review bank reconciliations for all school accounts.
Process bank deposits, transfers, and withdrawals.
Payroll & Statutory Compliance:
Prepare monthly payroll for staff, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
Calculate and remit statutory deductions (PAYE, pensions, taxes, etc.).
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, audit standards, and school policies.
Audit & Compliance:
Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and documentation.
Implement audit recommendations to strengthen financial systems.
Maintain strict confidentiality of financial information.
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Professional certification or part-qualification (ICAN, ACCA) is an added advantage.
Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably in an educational institution.
Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and reporting skills.
High level of integrity, discipline, and attention to detail.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
