Key Responsibilities
Mission 1: Undertake FSL activities in intervention LGA level under the direction of the FSL D/Programme Manager
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Supporting the effective and timely implementation of all field level activities relating of FFS, and VSLA under the guidance of the FSL Deputy/Programme Manager (D/PM)
Facilitate community mobilization and Sensitization on FFS and VSLA activities for sustained livelihoods.
Build capacity of Village agents, lead farmers and extension agents on FFS and VSLA methodology in the LGA of Intervention.
Identify, establish and mentor VSLA groups for sustained household income contributing to promoting peace in the community.
Monitor the FFS and VSLA group performance and provide technical support on their operations
Document and share best practices of FSS and VSLA in the targeted LGA for further learning
Linking of CFW, IGA and Livelihoods beneficiaries to existing VSLA in the different wards in the LGA.
Set up and utilization of FFS demonstration plots for training of beneficiaries.
Support relationship building and management with technical Government and non-governmental implementation partners like state ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of women affair, Ministry of youth and sports.
Facilitate the capacity building programs for selected farmer groups on proper agronomic practices.
In collaboration with the LGA Agriculture department, facilitate extension services for the farmer field schools.
Mission 2: Support institutional strengthening of VSLA and farmers group through Organizational Capacity Building (OCB) in selected LGA of intervention for household resilience
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Mobilize beneficiaries to form VSLA and farmer groups in the respective wards in the LGA of intervention
Facilitate monitoring of VSLA and farmers’ fields for further technical support and learning
Support the establishment of database on farmer field school and update them monthly.
Disseminate weather information to the farmer groups for timely measures to mitigate negative impact on farmers produce.
In collaboration with Agriculture department facilitate market linkages for farmer groups
Strengthen farmer group investment and saving opportunity through VSLA within the farmer field school.
Facilitate in coordination with the M&E unit, data sourcing and analysis with the aim of improving program approaches based on evidence.
Support FSL D/PM to identify relevant agencies that can support the implementation of all the components of the sustainable agriculture activities including VSLA.
Mission 3: Reporting and support to Project activities Management
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Ensure that all trainings and meeting records are dully in place for all activities (attendance sheet, on-job coaching sessions, workshop/meeting reports)
Ensure Biweekly and Monthly reports are submitted timely to the FSL D/PM
Submit issues log report to FSL D/PM with updates on specific actions taken, recommendations and mitigation.
Share success stories on FSL interventions in the LGA of intervention.
Support preparation of farmer group and VSLA monthly meeting records for effective group management
Submit situation reports on multisectoral issues affecting livelihoods of farmer groups and VSLA.
Support FSL D/PM in developing FSL timelines on all FSL activities in LGA of intervention.
Support FSL D/PM in developing financial forecast in line with the FSL activity timelines and planning at LGA level.
Mission 4: Performance Management
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Communicate Action Against Hunger performance standards and expectations to team members which includes:
10 minutes monthly conversation for FSL Assistant completed, discussed and submitted in a timely manner.
3 months/end of probation performance appraisal and annual/ end of contract appraisal completed, discussed and submitted timely.
Staff development needs, capacity gaps highlighted in performance management document and key issues highlighted.
Support the recruitment and training of program staff under the support of the D/PM, Project Coordinator and Base HR.
Manage the daily activities of the program staff in order to ensure the smooth running of the FSL program in line with HR procedures and policies.
Work with the FSL stakeholders in different LGAs on cross-learning and beneficiary capacity building initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities

Maintenance of high technical standards.
Conduct all duties in a professional manner following ACF Nigeria mission staff regulations, ACF mandate and charter including promotion of gender equality.
Position Requirements
Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Development Studies, and other related fields.
Minimum of 2 years of work experience in implementing food security and livelihood projects
Experience in VSLA, FFS and other livelihood programming
Thorough knowledge of and understanding of issues in agricultural, and economic recovery.
Good communication skills, including fluency in Hausa and English Languages
Experience in team support, HDP experience including experience in advocacy & dissemination of information on innovation.
