Job Title: Driver

Location: Maitama / Asokoro, Abuja (FCT)

Job Summary

• The Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of [personnel, goods, equipment, and/or documents] to and from designated locations.
• This role requires adherence to all traffic laws, maintaining a clean and operational vehicle, and providing excellent customer service. The Driver is a critical part of the team, ensuring smooth daily operations through reliable transport services.

Key Responsibilities
Safe and Efficient Transportation:

• Operate the assigned company vehicle(s) safely and efficiently, strictly adhering to all local, state, and national traffic laws and regulations.
• Plan and optimize driving routes before each trip using maps or GPS technology to determine the most expedient and cost-effective travel.
• Transport [goods/cargo/passengers/personnel] to designated locations on schedule, adjusting routes as needed to avoid heavy traffic or road closures.
• Maintain awareness of current traffic and weather conditions, and proactively communicate any potential delays to the appropriate personnel or passengers.

Vehicle Maintenance and Safety:

• Conduct mandatory pre-trip and post-trip inspections (visual and operational checks) on the vehicle, documenting and reporting any mechanical or safety issues, damage, or required maintenance promptly to the supervisor.
• Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and presentable (interior and exterior) at all times.
• Coordinate and facilitate scheduled vehicle service appointments, routine maintenance (e.g., oil changes, tire rotations), and repairs to keep the vehicle in optimal working condition.
• Ensure all vehicle documents, such as insurance, registration, and licenses, are up-to-date and valid.
• Manage fuel levels, refuelling the vehicle as needed, and maintaining accurate fuel consumption logs.

Documentation and Compliance:

• Maintain accurate daily logs of mileage, travel time, work hours, fuel purchases, and service entries.
• Complete and process all necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner (e.g., delivery confirmation, receipts, bills of lading).
• Report any accidents, incidents, traffic violations, or vehicle damage to management immediately.

Customer Service and Support (Modify based on if they transport passengers/goods):

• Provide excellent customer service when interacting with passengers, clients, or company staff, maintaining a polite and professional demeanor.
• Assist with the safe loading and unloading of cargo, packages, or luggage as required.
• [For passenger roles]: Open vehicle doors and assist passengers with boarding and disembarking.

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• License: Valid driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle(s) to be operated (e.g., standard, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)).
• Experience: Proven professional driving experience is typically preferred.
• Record: Clean driving record with no major traffic violations.
• Knowledge: Sound knowledge of local traffic laws, routes, and geography.
• Physical: Physically fit to sit for long periods and, if applicable, the ability to lift and carry objects up to [Specify weight, e.g., 50] pounds.
• Availability: Must be able to work flexible hours, which may include occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays.
• Checks: Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks and drug screenings as required.

Salary
N80,000 Monthly.
