We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Accountant

Location: Ogwashi Uku, Delta
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

• Our affiliate company is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant and Assistant Office Manager to join our agricultural operations in Ogwashi Uku.
• This crucial dual-role position requires a candidate with strong financial acumen, excellent administrative skills, and a deep understanding of Nigerian tax regulations at both the Federal and State (Delta State) levels.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for the full range of accounting duties and provide essential administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the farm office.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting and Financial Management:

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports for management review.
• Develop comprehensive annual operating budgets and cash flow forecasts, monitoring actual financial performance against budget and providing insightful variance analysis.
• Ensure strict compliance and timely remittance of all relevant taxes, leveraging current knowledge of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) regulations (including VAT, WHT, CIT) and applicable Delta State tax laws (e.g., Personal Income Tax, Land Use Charge).
• Accurately prepare and process the monthly payroll for all farm staff, ensuring timely computation and remittance of PAYE (Delta State), Pension, and NSITF contributions.
• Maintain the general ledger, manage accounts payable and receivable, and perform bank reconciliations using Quickbooks Accounting Software.
• Maintain a detailed fixed asset register, including proper capitalization, depreciation tracking (especially for farm equipment and infrastructure), and inventory management for farm supplies.

Office Administration and Support:

• Assist the officer manager as the primary administrative support, ensuring the smooth operation of the farm office, including managing records, coordinating communication, and handling mail/deliveries.
• Assist the Office Manager with basic HR functions such as maintaining confidential personnel files, coordinating staff documentation, and managing office supplies.
• Manage relationships with key vendors, process purchase orders, and monitor contracts for services and supplies.

Required Qualifications and Experience
Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc./HND) in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Certification: Progress towards or full certification (ICAN).

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably within the agricultural, manufacturing, or similar operational sectors.
• Proven proficiency in using QuickBooks Accounting Software or a similar globally recognized accounting platform.
• Demonstrable experience in preparing comprehensive financial statements and operational budgets.
• Expertise in preparing and processing payroll and managing statutory deductions.

Core Competencies and Skills:

• Excellent, demonstrable understanding of Nigerian Federal and Delta State tax laws and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Exceptional precision in data entry, reporting, and financial reconciliation.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and proven competency with accounting software, QuickBooks.
• Absolute commitment to maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of all financial and personnel data.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for internal reporting and external liaison (tax authorities, banks).
