We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Medical Doctor
Location: Zurmi, Zamfara
Employment Type: Contract (Fix term contract starting with 6 months / Level 9) Contract: 208 working hours per month
Main Purpose
Provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge,MSFprotocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients/beneficiary’shealth conditions.
JobDescription
Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention. Carry out outpatient andin patient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respectingMSFprotocols.
Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriateexplanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood.
Follow up the evolution of the hospitalized/IDP patients, through dailyvisits,consultations,andexaminations, prescribing the necessary treatment followingMSFprotocols, deciding whetherthey can be discharged or transferred to other departmentsin collaboration with other doctorsand informing their family about the patient’s evolution.
Checkandcontroltherationaldistributionofmedicinesandequipmentunderhis/herresponsibility and take care the quality,disinfection,and sterilization of the medical material.
Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards.
Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity andinforming the line manager or project coordinator about any problem or complication of the patients’illness,medicalerrorandmonitorstheproperfunctioningofthedepartment,equipment,or material.
Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary teamtooptimize thequality of care.
Knowsand ensuresallMSFmedical protocolsare followed and implemented,checkinguniversalprecautionsarealwaysfollowedandreducingbio-hazardrisksandimprovinginfection control.Ensures professional confidentiality is respected.
Manage the team under his/her direct responsibility according to MSF HR policies and procedures,supervising their performance,organizing,and scheduling shifts and rotations, directly participating in emergencies and on calls if necessary.
MSF Section / Context Specific Accountabilities
Provide personal, family and communityorientated comprehensive medical care to individuals. Aspart of the general practice team,he/she is responsible for providing patient-centered, culturallyappropriate, and individual holistic care to the target population.
Follow MSF’s medical guidelines, protocols, and ethical principles in all clinical practices.
Work closely with the nursing team, the Sexual andReproductiveHealth, the Mental Health,protectionand thehealthpromotionteamsto provide clinical guidance, assistance education and support.
Manage emergency cases, ensuring timely stabilization and resuscitation of critically ill patients.
Ensure that patients files are completed appropriately and legibly, with good documentation of clinical findings, vital signs monitoring, investigations, referrals and treatments.Contribute to medical data collection, analysis, andreporting to support evidence-based decision-making, and maintain accurateand complete patient records, ensuring confidentiality.
Adhere to safety protocols, including IPC measures, to protect both patients and healthcare workers
Identify patients with acute surgical conditions during consultations and ward rounds, prepare those meeting criteria for surgery, and assist/perform surgical interventions when required, in collaboration with surgeon.
Escalatecomplex evolution with surgeon and line manager, to ensure quality care andfollow up for surgical cases.
Ensure the active use of the Telemedicine service, follow up cases, update the team,to incooporate specialist recommendations in patient management.
Requirements Education:
Medical DoctorDiploma Essential.
Diploma in Tropical Medicinedesirable.
Experience:
2-years experience minimum as a Medical Doctor or in clinical work (can be withinmedical training).
Desirable in tropical medicine, or post-registration experience in PublicHealth,
Obstetrics- Gynaecology,paediatrics, infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS/STDs, TB,general practice, general medicine or minor surgery.
Language:
Mission language essential. Hausa language desirableand any other locallanguage.
