Job Title: ICT Tutor
Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Purpose
To deliver high-quality ICT instruction to primary and secondary students, ensuring pupils acquire essential digital literacy, computational thinking skills, and practical ICT competencies needed for academic growth and future readiness.
The tutor will also support the school’s digital learning initiatives and maintain ICT resources.
Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning:
Deliver engaging ICT lessons aligned with the school curriculum (e.g., coding, digital literacy, MS Office, internet safety, etc.).
Teach ICT skills appropriate to each level—from basic computer operations in primary classes to advanced concepts in secondary classes.
Prepare lesson notes, schemes of work, teaching aids, and assessment materials.
Integrate practical, hands-on activities using computers, tablets, and digital tools.
Teach basic programming (Scratch, Blockly, Python basics depending on level).
Assessment & Evaluation:
Conduct continuous assessments, quizzes, assignments, and projects.
Track student performance and maintain accurate records.
Provide feedback to students and parents where necessary.
Prepare students for internal and external ICT-related exams.
Classroom & Resource Management:
Manage the computer lab and ensure safe and responsible use of ICT equipment.
Ensure all systems, software, and learning resources are up to date.
Support students with troubleshooting basic technical issues.
Adhere to child safeguarding and digital safety standards.
Curriculum Development:
Contribute to the review and improvement of ICT schemes of work.
Recommend new tools, apps, and educational technologies.
Introduce modern ICT trends (AI, robotics basics, multimedia design, etc.) where appropriate.
School-wide ICT Support:
Assist teachers with the integration of ICT into other subjects.
Support digital learning platforms (Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, LMS).
Provide basic technical support during school activities (projector, smartboard, etc.).
Professionalism & Collaboration:
Attend staff meetings, training, workshops, and school events.
Maintain a positive learning environment that promotes curiosity and digital ethics.
Collaborate with other teachers on cross-curricular ICT projects.
Minimum Qualifications
B.Ed. / B.Sc. / HND in Computer Science, ICT, or related fields.
Teaching qualification (TRCN certification is an advantage).
Experience teaching ICT at primary or secondary level is preferred.
Experience with digital learning platforms is an added advantage.
Strong knowledge of computer operations and hardware basics.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to teach:
Digital literacy and typing
Internet usage & online research
Coding for children (Scratch, Blockly, Python or Java basics for secondary)
Productivity software
Basic graphics and multimedia (e.g., Paint, Canva, CorelDraw basics)
Familiarity with educational technologies (smartboards, LMS platforms).
Ability to troubleshoot basic hardware/software issues.
Teaching & Pedagogical Skills:
Ability to break down complex concepts into simple, age-appropriate lessons.
Strong classroom management.
Creative lesson delivery and use of teaching aids.
Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning levels.
Effective assessment and reporting skills.
