To undertake and collate AIG’s Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves estimation and reporting; and participate in due diligence reviews.
The role has overall accountability for estimation and timely reporting of Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves in compliance to the Group’s standards and chosen international codes such as JORC, NI43-101 and SAMREC codes, ensuring accuracy in the estimation of orebodies grade and resource tonnages using statistical and geostatistical methods.
Principle Accountabilities
Ensure safety, health and wellbeing of employees and equipment to comply with both legal requirements and the company policy.
Database design and input validation.
QAQC validation.
Modelling of orebodies and geology.
Mineral Resource estimation.
Competent Person's sign off of Mineral resource estimations
Competent Person technical report writing.
Provide leadership in Mineral Resource/Reserve/Mine production reconciliation studies and due diligence investigations (internal and external, as well as local and abroad).
Anchor operational excellence across the exploration teams, through continuous improvement initiatives and establishment of quality as a way of life, especially in the adoption and application of industry’s best, efficient and most cost-effective mineral resource management standards.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Professional Geologist designation and Competent Person (CP) in Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve estimation and reporting in multiple mineral commodities
Must possess a BSc (Hons) in geology and an MSc/MEng or equivalent statistical and geostatistical training.
Must have minimum 15 years geology/mining related experience of which of 7 years must be in geological modelling and Mineral Resource estimation of high-value minerals including copper and other base metals; gold, silver, platinum and other precious metals; rare earth and energy minerals, and bulk mineral commodities such as iron-ore and coal.
Strong geoscientist extensive geological orebody modelling and estimation experience with high proficiency in softwares such as Datamine Studio RM, Supervisor, Strat3D, Leapfrog, and data management software (e.g. DAP, Datashed, acQuire).
Good knowledge of ore forming systems, exploration models and structural controls to mineralisations.
International/Africa experience in diverse geological environments.
Excellent communication skills, oral, written, presentation and authoring of technical reports.

Manager & Peers: Head of Exploration; Group Head of Mining; Exploration Manager; Principal Geologist: Principal Geochemist, Principal Geophysicist: Provide updates on project mineral resource management, collaborate on strategy and alignment with the company’s strategy, receive inputs and action decisions as required.
Direct reports: Receive updates on various aspects of exploration operations, mineral resource modelling and estimation, providing input and making decisions as required.
Indirect report: Maintain consistent contact for alignment, support and execution of all exploration activities and feedback.
External:
Government (Geological Survey & Mining Cadastre Departments: liaison and networking for mineral resource/geo-data acquisition and mineral intelligence updates)
Mineral Resource Managers of other Mining and Exploration Firms: Networking, collaboration, and benchmarking against industry’s best practices.
Geological Consultants, Contractors and Organisations: collaborate and manage for specialised expertise in addressing specific technical challenges and needs.
