Job Title: Yard Coordinator

Job Description
The Yard Coordinator works with the Yard Manager within a shift to manage all yard container handling including storing, stacking, deliveries, pick-ups, heavy lifting, empty return/dispatch, internal yard grooming & housekeeping details.
The incumbent handles all planning and execution of container traffic across the operational value chain of the business whilst ensuring optimal spatial management to meet marine/vessel operational needs within a shift.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Shift Leadership:
Oversees the entire yard function during a shift
Plans a allocates manpower and other resources in the yard within a shift.
Yard Planning & Reporting:
Attends the weekly operations meetings and departmental daily meetings to align the manpower needed for the terminal equipment
Effectively plans the yard layouts for imports, exports, and empty containers following set yard specifications
Allocates yard ranges for imports and exports per vessel
Implements the complete yard processes to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency
Maintains the yard setup and planning to accommodate maximum yard equipment productivity
Maintains real-time visibility of yard conditions and container movements working via the TOS
Prepares shift report for the Yard Manager and the next Yard Coordinator in duty.
Yard Operations:
Works collaboratively with Yard Admin, Vessel Planners, Yard Planners, Vessel Coordinators, and the Shift Manager
Maintains real-time visibility of yard conditions and container movements working via the TOS
Coordinates with planners to ensure yard readiness for vessel operations, barge operations, scanning, examination, and gate deliveries.
Supports mission assignment, execution of yard strategy, and timely resolution of discrepancies in container location or status.
Ensures efficient communication flow between field teams and Control Room stakeholders to sustain uninterrupted terminal operations.
Contributes to Control Room performance routines, reporting, escalation protocols, and process discipline in collaboration with PEX and control room performance improvement functions, recommend and support process improvements to enhance yard operating efficiency.
Works closely with Yard Admin to ensure all anomalies are promptly corrected.
Ensures daily Examination, Scanning, and Vessel Preparation targets are achieved.
Escalates yard operational challenges to the Shift Manager for timely intervention.
Lead Tier-2 yard team meetings and assign tasks to Yard Supervisors.
Safety & Compliance:
Maintains safe working conditions for yard operations across teams.
Ensure compliance with all regulations, safety standards, and terminal SOPs.
Audit yard inventory and enforce proper housekeeping standards across all yard blocks.
Oversee weighbridge operations to ensure accurate data capture and prompt resolution of reported issues.
Ensures all yard activities are executed following the standard operating procedures.
Team and People Management:
Attends to the welfare of team members.
Maximises productivity of the team through the implementation of TICT’s performance management system.
Recommends appropriate training for team members to close performance & development gaps.
Supports the process of recruitment of team members.
Performs any other duties as required by the business.
Minimum Educational Qualifications / Certifications / Years of Experience
HND or Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in any discipline.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the relevant field or industry.
