We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Lead, Protection Control and Metering
Location: Bukuru, Jos South, Plateau
Purpose of the Job
The Lead, Protection, Control, and Metering is responsible for overseeing the installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of protection, control, and metering systems to ensure the reliability and safety of the distribution
network
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee the installation, testing, calibration, and maintenance of protection, control, and metering systems across the distribution network
Ensure the reliability and accuracy of metering systems, including smart meters, current transformers, and voltage transformers
Conduct regular testing and maintenance of protection relays and associated control equipment
Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program for all protection and metering devices
Lead investigations into equipment failures or protection malfunctions, ensuring root cause analysis is conducted and corrective actions are implemented
Provide technical support for troubleshooting complex issues in protection, control, and metering systems
Ensure all protection, control, and metering activities comply with regulatory standards and industry best practices
Be up to date with national and international standards related to protection and metering systems
Manage the design and implementation of new protection, control, and metering systems or upgrades to existing system
Coordinate with vendors and contractors for the procurement and installation of equipment
Supervise and mentor a team of technicians and engineers, providing guidance and support for technical and operational challenges
Conduct performance evaluations and identify training needs for team members
Maintain accurate records of all protection and metering equipment and their maintenance schedules
Ensure all team activities adhere to safety protocols, and promote a culture of safety within the team
Conduct risk assessments for all protection, control, and metering activities
Prepare and submit periodic reports on the performance of protection and metering systems to the Head of Distribution
Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Head Distribution Key Requirements
Education and Work Experience
B.Eng / HND in an Engineering field + COREN accredited PGD + Masters in the same field
Relevant professional certification is required, e.g. COREN etc
Basic computer proficiency (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint Outlook)
5-7 years of relevant experience in the power distribution sector or related fields, with at least 4 years in a supervisory role.
