Farm Supervisor at EA Farms

EA Farms - We are developing a small, sustainable agroforestry farmlocated in Ado-Odo/Ota, close to Lagos State. The farm is built on a one-acre site and is designed as a demonstration of practical, environmentally responsible farming suitable for wetland and semi-urban environments. Our farming model integrates tree crops (fruit trees, oil palm, coconut, banana) with vegetables, herbs, edible flowers, and small livestock. We prioritize raised-bed systems, good drainage, composting, and low-input sustainable practices to protect the land, nearby water sources, and surrounding community.

The farm is to be intentionally small, well-managed, and visually attractive, with a long-term vision of becoming a peaceful learning and visitor destination where people can see how food, nature, and responsible farming work together. We are looking to build a committed, hands-on team that values discipline, learning, honesty, and care for the land. We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Farm Supervisor

Location: Ota, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time
Farm Size: 1 Acre (Agroforestry & Mixed Farming)
Work Schedule: Monday to Saturday (half day on Saturdays)

Role Summary

• We are seeking a hands-on Farm Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day establishment and operation of the farm. This role is ideal for someone passionate about practical farming, sustainability, and working with both crops and animals.
• The Farm Supervisor will be the first staff member and will play a critical role in setting up systems, routines, and farm infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
Crop Production:

• Establish and maintain fruit trees (oil palm, coconut, banana, and other fruit trees)
• Manage vegetable, herb, and edible flower production
• Prepare raised beds and mounds suitable for swampy land
• Implement composting, mulching, and soil improvement practices
• Monitor pests and diseases using integrated pest management.

Livestock Management:

• Daily care of chickens and ducks (meat & eggs)
• Manage goats for dairy production
• Care for rabbits for meat and manure
• Ensure proper feeding, hygiene, housing, and biosecurity
• Manage animal waste responsibly.

Farm Operations:

• Maintain farm cleanliness and order
• Supervise farm hand(s) when employed
• Keep basic farm records (feeding, planting, birth, mortality, harvests)
• Identify problems early and communicate clearly with the farm owner
• Protect farm tools, animals, and infrastructure.

Sustainability & Innovation:

• Apply sustainable and low-input farming practices
• Suggest improvements to farm layout and systems
• Support the long-term vision of a demonstration agroforestry farm.

Requirements

• OND/HND in Agriculture or related fields
• 3–5 years hands-on farming experience
• Experience with mixed farming (crops + livestock)
• Familiarity with wetland or swampy farming conditions
• Practical knowledge of composting, mulching, and soil care
• Comfortable working independently
• Honest, responsible, and physically fit
• Basic literacy (record keeping and communication).

Preferred (Not Mandatory):

• Experience with agroforestry or organic farming
• Basic plumbing or irrigation knowledge.
