We are seeking a strategic, analytical, and result-oriented Head of Operations to lead its operational functions and ensure seamless coordination across departments.
The Head of Operations will be responsible for overseeing daily business operations, optimizing organizational processes, improving productivity, and ensuring all departments align with the company’s growth objectives.
The role requires a strong data-driven approach, leveraging operational, financial, and performance analytics to support decision-making, forecasting, and continuous improvement across the business.
Working closely with the executive team, the successful candidate will translate business goals into operational strategies, drive process excellence, and deliver measurable results across supply chain, finance, customer service, and production functions.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership and Strategy:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the company to ensure smooth, efficient, and cost-effective processes.
Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the company’s vision, financial goals, and market position.
Translate organizational objectives into actionable operational plans, KPIs, performance dashboards, and targets.
Monitor and evaluate operational performance using data insights, identifying gaps and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide leadership and strategic direction to departmental heads and Pharmacy Managers.
Ensure operational readiness, business continuity, and risk management through effective planning and process standardization.
Process Optimization, Automation & Analytics:
Review and streamline business processes to eliminate inefficiencies and enhance productivity using data-backed analysis.
Implement process automation tools, reporting systems, and performance dashboards to improve accuracy, visibility, and turnaround time.
Analyze operational data to identify cost leakages, bottlenecks, and optimization opportunities.
Develop, implement, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all departments.
Foster a culture of accountability, performance tracking, and continuous improvement.
Supply Chain, Retail & Performance Management:
Collaborate with Supply Chain and Procurement teams to ensure effective sourcing, inventory management, and product availability across retail pharmacy centres.
Apply demand forecasting and inventory analytics to minimize stock-outs, expiries, and excess inventory.
Ensure compliance with PCN standards, NAFDAC regulations, SON quality standards, and Good Distribution Practices (GDP).
Anticipate and mitigate operational risks such as stock shortages, supplier delays, and equipment downtime through proactive analysis.
Financial and Data-Driven Performance Management:
Work closely with Finance and Accounting teams to manage operational budgets, control costs, and optimize resource allocation.
Analyze financial and operational data to support strategic planning, pricing decisions, and profitability improvement.
Develop and monitor operational and financial performance reports for management review.
Support revenue growth by improving efficiency, service quality, and customer satisfaction through data-driven insights.
Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of operational and financial reportin.
People Management and Organizational Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop departmental heads and teams to foster a high-performance and data-literate culture.
Coordinate interdepartmental communication to ensure alignment and collaboration across functions.
Drive employee productivity and engagement through clear performance metrics and structured reviews.
Evaluate performance outcomes and implement corrective actions where necessary.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Ensure adherence to all regulatory, legal, and ethical standards governing pharmaceutical and health operations.
Maintain operational excellence in compliance with NAFDAC, SON, PCN, and other industry regulatory requirements.
Oversee health, safety, and environmental compliance across all operational locations.
Strategic Growth and Business Intelligence:
Support the executive team in identifying new business opportunities, partnerships, and market expansion initiatives.
Conduct periodic market, operational, and performance analyses to identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities.
Develop scalable operational frameworks supported by performance data to enable sustainable business expansion.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Industrial Management, Data Analytics, or a related field.
A Master’s Degree (MBA or equivalent) will be an added advantage.
Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in operations management, with at least 4 years in a leadership role, preferably within pharmaceuticals, retail, manufacturing, or FMCG.
Strong experience in data analysis, KPI management, and performance reporting to support operational decision-making.
Proven ability to drive operational efficiency, process improvement, and business growth.
Solid knowledge of supply chain management, budgeting, and performance measurement.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
