Job Title: Logistics Supervisor
Location: Akwa, Anambra
Contract Period: Definite
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Supervising the daily logistics activities and providing maintenance to the MSF equipment, facilities, and infrastructures, according to MSF standards and protocols in order to maintain the facilities in perfect conditions and collaborate in the development of the mission.
Monitoring maintenance activities of infrastructures, management of non-medical stocks and equipment according to MSF standards
Ensuring the check and follow-up of facilities under the line manager's supervision through daily visits to the facilities and reporting any anomalies or problems, evaluation of the rehabilitation needs and following up minor building rehabilitation work according to supervisor's instructions; checking that premises observe security norms and monitoring the consumption of mechanical and electrical vehicles/machines/devices.
Planning together with the line manager the required checks and maintenance activities of energy systems/set-up according to MSF standards
Coordinating and leading the logistics team under his/her responsibility which includes daily supervision, monitoring of the quality of work and the definition of each person's task, drawing up their working schedules; organizing and leading team meetings; participating in the recruitment of team personnel and attending logistics meetings and accounting for his activities.
Ensuring the vehicle fleet maintenance which includes planning and overseeing timely preventive and curative maintenance of all project vehicles according to MSF standards and instructing and monitoring drivers on correct driving habits and standard checks.
MSFOCB / Context Specific Accountabilities
Train and Support Log Base:
Provide on-the-job training and continuous technical support to Log Base staff to ensure understanding and correct application of MSF logistics standards, tools, and procedures.
Build staff capacity in key logistics areas such as fleet management, maintenance follow-up, stock management, procurement procedures, and reporting.
Identify training needs and gaps, organize refresher sessions, and support performance improvement through coaching and mentoring.
Follow-up of Log Base Activities:
Monitor and follow up on all Log Base activities to ensure timely execution and compliance with approved plans, priorities, and MSF protocols.
Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and tracking of logistics activities including maintenance requests, stock movements, vehicle usage, and procurement follow-up.
Identify operational challenges or delays and escalate issues to the line manager with proposed corrective actions.
Follow-up and Planning for the Driver Team:
Plan, coordinate, and monitor drivers’ daily and weekly schedules, duty rosters, leave, and standby arrangements in line with operational needs and security constraints.
Ensure drivers comply with MSF driving rules, security procedures, and vehicle usage policies at all times.
Monitor driver performance, provide feedback, and support evaluations in collaboration with the Logistics Supervisor.
Ensure drivers receive appropriate briefings, training, and refresher sessions, including safety and defensive driving.
Domestic flight follow-up and focal point back up:
Follow up on flight schedules, delays, and changes, ensuring timely communication to concerned staff and departments.
Minimum Required Skills and Qualifications
Education: Essential: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Civil), Facilities Management, or a related technical field.
Experience: Essential: Minimum of 3 years’ relevant professional experience in logistics, maintenance, or facilities management, preferably in an NGO, INGO, or humanitarian context.
Proven experience in infrastructure and premises maintenance, including routine inspections, minor rehabilitation works, and monitoring compliance with security and safety standards.
Languages: Mission language essential; local language desirable (IGBO, ENGLISH)
Knowledge: Computer literacy and radio equipment user-knowledge
