Background
The REACH-OUT Project is an implementation research initiative focused on closing the gaps in Zero-dose children through cost-effective and innovative strategies in four states of Nigeria. As part of the project’s qualitative research component, in-depth interviews (IDIs), key informant interviews (KIIs), and focus group discussions (FGDs) have been conducted with stakeholders at community, facility, and system levels.
To ensure rigorous analysis and high-quality outputs, the project seeks to engage a qualified Qualitative Data Analyst to transcribe, code, analyze, and synthesize findings from qualitative interviews.
Objective of the Consultancy
The objective of this consultancy is to produce accurate transcriptions, systematic qualitative analysis, and analytically robust findings from IDI, KII, and FGD data that will inform REACH-OUT learning, reporting, and dissemination outputs.
Scope of Work
The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
Transcribe verbatim all approved audio recordings from IDIs, KIIs, and FGDs, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
Review transcripts for quality, completeness, and consistency with audio recordings.
Develop or refine a qualitative coding framework aligned with the REACH-OUT study objectives and interview guides.
Code all transcripts using an agreed qualitative data analysis software (e.g., NVivo, ATLAS.ti, or similar).
Conduct thematic analysis, identifying key themes, sub-themes, patterns, and divergent perspectives across respondent groups.
Synthesize findings across data sources (IDI, KII, FGD) and stakeholder categories.
Produce clear analytic memos highlighting key insights, emerging narratives, and implementation lessons.
Support interpretation of findings in line with implementation science and health systems strengthening frameworks.
Submit cleaned transcripts, coded datasets, and analysis outputs in line with project data management protocols.
Key Deliverables
The consultant is expected to deliver:
Clean, verbatim transcripts for all interviews (IDI, KII, FGD).
A finalized qualitative codebook aligned with REACH-OUT research questions.
Fully coded qualitative dataset using approved analysis software.
A concise Qualitative Analysis Report summarizing key themes, findings, and implications for the REACH-OUT Project.
Analytic memos and extracts suitable for use in project reports, manuscripts, and policy briefs.
Required Qualifications and Experience
The consultant should possess:
A Postgraduate Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Anthropology, Sociology, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience in qualitative research, including IDIs, KIIs, and FGDs.
Proven expertise in qualitative data analysis software (NVivo, ATLAS.ti, or equivalent).
Strong skills in thematic analysis and qualitative synthesis.
Experience working on implementation research or health systems research projects (preferred).
Excellent written analytical and reporting skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical research standards.
