Chabash development and Health Initiative (CDHI) is a non-governmental organization dully registered with Nigerian government through corporate affairs commission and also is working closely with SEMA/NEMA Borno state chapter and the Borno state humanitarian response committee. Existence since March 2016, CDHI focus on improving the quality of life of vulnerable population across communities in the north eastern Nigeria. CDHI operates both in emergency and developmental context and have its programme principally rooted in identifying gaps that affects population or increases vulnerability of population and bringing those gaps through resource base planning and implementation. CDHI invest in Girls, Women, Children and all vulnerable group and communities especially those affected by emergencies. We have focus on promotion of girl child education, gender based violence and women empowerment as well as improving women efficacy on appropriate maternal and child care practices through promotion of nutrition education, and appropriate practices within communities.

Job Title: Food Security and Livelihood Assistant
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Job Summary
The Food Security and Livelihood Assistant will support the implementation of community-based livelihood activities aimed at improving income generation and self-sufficiency among target beneficiaries.
The volunteer will work closely with the Livelihood Officer or Program Coordinator to facilitate skills training, monitor beneficiaries’ progress, and assist in organizing livelihood and economic empowerment sessions.
Key Responsibilities
Support the planning and implementation of livelihood and skills-training sessions (e.g., tailoring, agribusiness, food processing, crafts, ICT).
Assist in mobilizing community members to participate in vocational and entrepreneurship programs.
Maintain attendance records, collect progress data, and support monitoring of trainees’ performance.
Facilitate small-group mentoring sessions and promote peer learning among participants.
Help identify local market opportunities and link trainees with potential buyers or suppliers.
Participate in organizing exhibitions or community events to showcase livelihood products and achievements.
Document success stories, lessons learned, and beneficiaries’ feedback for program improvement.
Support basic data entry and contribute to monthly activity reports.
Ensure gender inclusion and participation of vulnerable groups in all livelihood interventions.
Areas of Accountability
The FSL Assistant will be accountable for:
Program Implementation: Ensuring all assigned FSL and Multi-purpose cash assistance MPCA activities are conducted in line with the organization’s/donors’ requirements
Data and Reporting: Accurately collecting and submitting data to supervisors for review and reporting.
Community Engagement: Representing CDHI positively in all community interactions.
Code of Conduct Compliance: Upholding the organization’s values, maintaining confidentiality, and adhering to safeguarding and ethical standards.
Team Collaboration: Working collaboratively with other volunteers and staff to achieve program objectives effectively.
Qualifications and Experience
B.Sc / HND in Business, Agriculture, Economics, nutrition, or related field is an advantage.
Interested or experienced in livelihood, entrepreneurship, or community development programs is a plus.
Good organizational and communication skills.
Basic record-keeping and reporting ability.
Willingness to work closely with diverse community members.
Fluency in English and local languages is desirable.
